Waneta Meier Obituary
She was born on November 14, 1936 in Buckland, OH to Martin & Minnie (Brown) Sunderland who preceded her in death. On March 20, 1956 she married Everett "Smokey" Welch and he passed away on December 22, 1996. Then on June 3, 2000 she married Joe Meier and he passed away on June 4, 2016.
Survivors include a daughter Judy (Shawn) Sealscott of Wapakoneta; a granddaughter Paige (Deron) Fiebelkorn of Wapakoneta; 7 great-grandchildren Tegan, Destiny, Moriah, Winnie, Ellie, Kingston, Everly and many others; a sister Carol (Leo) Klima; 3 sisters-in-law Frankie Sunderland, Marsha Sunderland, Delores Sunderland; a brother-in-law Len Elshoff.
She was preceded in death by her siblings Carl (Minnie) Sunderland, Ruth (Robert) Meeker, Mildred (Robert) Tangeman, Harold Sunderland, Vernon (Mary Lou) Sunderland, Vera Elshoff, Charles Sunderland, Roger Sunderland.
Waneta was a 1955 graduate of Buckland High School. She enjoyed shopping, car races, drive-in movies, baking, making jam and being a stay-at-home Mom with Judy. She also took pleasure in planting flowers and helping neighbors garden along with reading books, word searches and puzzles. Her proudest moments in her life were raising Judy, babysitting Paige and watching her great-grandchildren grow.
Graveside services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 8, 2023 at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Moulton with Rev. David Ross officiating. A Celebration of Life will follow at The Galloway 15 E. Auglaize St., Wapakoneta.
