Jack Franklin Reynolds, 84, of Warrensburg, Missouri, passed away Friday, January 8, 2021, in his home.
He was born on June 20, 1936, on the family farm in Simpson Township, Johnson County, Missouri, the son of Franklin Woodrow Reynolds, and Agnes Jane (Fryrear) Reynolds, who preceded him in death. Also preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Clyde Brookshier.
He was survived by his wife, C. Kay Reynolds, two sisters: Doris Brookshier and Tamie Reynolds, two daughters: Leslie Bayless and Kelly Weeks (Toney), two step-sons, Kevin Dolan (Jennifer), Todd Dolan (Laura), and several bonus children, John Laursen (Kelly), Chris Chugg (Dannelle), eight grandchildren: Tucker Bayless (Nicholle), Amy Turney (Jarett), Kiersten Dolan, Gracie Dolan, Nitashia Negrete, Thomas Negrete, Matt Miller, (Kim), and KayLee Miller, and seven great-grandchildren: Aaron Bayless, Adarren Breuil, Jarentt Breuil, Nicholas Negrete, Haley Negrete, Jackson Dillon, and Elena Miller.
He was raised on the farm, northeast of Warrensburg. The family spent a short time in California during the depression, although they were able to save the farm. Jack graduated from College High School and received a Masters degree in Biology from Central Missouri State College. Upon graduating from college, Jack taught Biology in Raytown, Warrensburg, and at Central Missouri State College (UCM). In Raytown, Jack advised the outing club where he went on multiple canoeing trips throughout the years even continuing to very recently.
Jack enjoyed adventure and embarked on adventurous trips, hobbies and jobs throughout his life. He was a pilot, spelunker, river guide in Utah, law enforcement (Uintah County Utah, Bates City, Warrensburg, Kosovo), search and rescue, firefighter (Johnson County, Warrensburg), jailer, rancher, EMT, diver, water rescue instructor, muzzleloader enthusiast, ran a safety boat in the Missouri River 340 (MR340) spearfisherman, enjoyed hunting, trapping, gardening, and canning.
Due to COVID, a memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
