Gene Henry Deppe

1942 - 2023

Waseca, Minnesota - GENE HENRY DEPPE, 81, of Waseca, MN, died at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester, MN, on November 22, 2023.

He was born in Waseca on January 22, 1942, to William F. and Frieda Amelia (Neils) Deppe. Gene was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Waseca. Gene graduated from Waseca High School in 1960. He started his first job at Southern Minnesota Grocery Company as a bookkeeper while still in high school until 1969. On November 10, 1962, Gene married Lorraine Ida Fell at St. John Lutheran Church in Waseca. Later, he was employed with Brown Printing Company in the plate room from 1969 until his retirement in 2001.

Gene is survived by his wife, Lorraine; children, Kevin (Nancy Nelson) Deppe of Brownton, Julie (Gregg) Darrington of Waseca; grandchildren, Amanda (Alex) Beyer of Holloway, Megan (boyfriend, Spencer Morsching) Deppe of St. Clair; sisters, Shirley (Glen) Conway of Waseca and Barbara (Robert) Larson of Mound.

Gene was a quiet and conservative man who liked to read, calculate numbers, tinker in the garage, and spend time with his family. He also had a soft spot for furry and feathered creatures and watching football.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents, William & Frieda Deppe; siblings, an infant sister, Gladys (Bill) Kletschka, Robert "Bud" Deppe, Betty (Loren) Biggerstaff, and Orville (Gwenn) Deppe.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 1-3 PM on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at the Third Street Chapel of Dennis-Steffel-Omtvedt Funeral & Cremation Service in Waseca. A prayer service will be held at 3 pm for anyone that wishes to attend at the same location.
