Bernard Mahon Obituary
BERNARD E. MAHON
Bernard Edward Mahon, 91, on July 28, 2013, Bernie passed away peacefully at Hospice of the Chesapeake. Born in Scranton, PA, he earned his degree in accounting from the University of Scranton. He served as a supply officer aboard the USS Guadalcanal during WWII. Following the war, he earned his law degree from Temple University and spent most of his career as House Counsel for Motel Management of America in Washington, D.C. He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Catherine Mahoney Mahon. He is survived by his son, Bernard; daughters, Lisa and Cathy; son-in-law, Richard; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and countless nieces, nephews and friends. Christian wake and visitation will be held Friday, August 2 from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Hardesty Funeral Home, 905 Galesville Rd., Galesville, MD. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, August 3 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Owensville, MD followed by burial in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers (which Bernie thought were frivolous), contributions may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake at www.hospicechesapeake.org. Sorry for your loss.

Tom and I were so fond of Mr. Mahon. We have great memories of tailgating with him and Kay at Maryland football games. He made a wedding video for us that we cherish. We loved visiting him at his home in Galesville, most recently at his 90th birthday party. Our thoughts and prayers are with is wonderful children Brad, Lisa, and Cathy and with all of his grandchildren and other relatives.

Bill and I were his neighbors for a number of years in Galesville. He was so kind to our children and we still have movies of him giving Andy and Jackie rides in his boat and ice skating on Lerch Creek. He was generous and a very kind man. God Bless! Bill and Linda Bassford; Rockford, MI

Gar and I will miss Bernie. We had been neighbors for over 20 years with he and Kay. They were great people!
