David Michael Davenport

1934 - 2024

David Michael Davenport, 80, loving husband, father, brother, and grandfather, departed from this life peacefully and surrounded by family on August 11, 2024, in Fairfax, VA. David inspired others through his deep love and devotion to family and faith.
David was born in Corvallis, Oregon, to Colonel Robert James Davenport, a West Point graduate, and Mary O'Connor Davenport. As an Army child, he moved around the world with his parents and younger brothers, Kevin and Brian, living in Germany, Puerto Rico, Japan, and more than ten U.S. states. He graduated from Carlisle High School (Class of 1961) and Mount St. Mary's University (Class of 1965). He earned his J.D. from George Washington University (Class of 1968).
He is survived by his wife, Patricia; his daughters Christine (Adam), Maureen (Austin) and Katie (Trevor); his 12 grandchildren, Caroline, Caitlin, Will, Mac, Maggie, Molly, Christopher, Charlie, Vivian, Edmund, Jack, and one on the way; his younger brother, Kevin (Dudley); and many nieces, nephews and cousins across the country. David was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Brian (Fran).
Visiting hours will be at Demaine Funeral Home, 10565 Main Street, Fairfax, VA, 22030 on August 29 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. A Memorial Mass will be held at Georgetown Visitation Preparatory School, 1524 35th Street NW, Washington, DC 20007 on Saturday, August 31 at 11 a.m. A reception and celebration of David's life will immediately follow at Washington Golf & Country Club, 3017 N Glebe Road, Arlington, Virginia 22207. All friends and family are welcome to attend the visitation, Mass and reception.
