DOROTHY DALE MACHADO LOMAN  
Of Homewood at Crumland Farm, formerly of Bethesda, MD, died at Frederick Memorial Hospital in Frederick, MD on February 24, 2017, at the age of 80.She was the wife of the late Robert Cooper Loman and is survived by her daughter Carol K. Loman of Rockville, MD; her son Barry L. Loman of Frederick, MD; her grandchildren Steven A. Loman of San Antonio, TX, Daniel R. and Amanda R. Loman of Stephens City, VA; and her grandchildren Faith C., Kayla A., and Jared Cooper Napoleon Loman.Dale was born at home on April 23, 1936 in Crockett, CA, fifth of seven children to Harold and Dorothy Machado, where the Doctor named her after her mother. She met her husband at a friends' wedding while he was serving in the Navy in San Diego, CA. After a few long weekend dates and an overseas tour of duty they married on July 3, 1960 and moved to his home town in the Washington, DC Metropolitan area. While raising her two children she went back to school to get a degree in accounting and studied and passed her Certified Public Accountants license, which she used until she retired. After her children were grown she took up painting then eventually quilting. Her skill as a quilter was shared when she and Bob moved to the Homewood Retirement community. Shortly after the move she lost her husband Bob, but he had made sure she was entrenched in the new community and she flourished there until her health declined.The Memorial is scheduled for Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Homewood's Community Building, 7407 Willow Road, Frederick, MD 21702 with a reception to follow.In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Homewood Residents Association earmarked for the Employee Appreciation Fund; 7407 Willow Road, Frederick, MD 21702.
