E. PELLETIER Obituary


Dr. E. NEIL PELLETIER  
Dr. E Neil Pelletier of Neal Dr., Alexandria, VA, passed away December 22, 2017 in Richmond, VA. A native of Woonsocket, RI, he was born September 22,1927 to the late Eugene Pelletier and Yvonne Pelletier. After serving in WWII, he graduated from The University of Rhode Island, The University of Maine and he received his PhD in Plant Pathology from Purdue University.Neil married Alice L. Langlois in 1953. He was an amateur thespian, performing in numerous local plays. After retiring from the EPA in Arlington, VA, Neil and Alice continued their world travels. Neil's various volunteer activities included The American Horticultural Society, The Alexandria Archeological Society and the Fairfax County Department of Parks and Recreation. Neil was a founding member of the Holy Trinity Icon Guild formed in 1997. His hobbies included icon painting, gardening and clock repair. He was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church. Neil was predeceased by his wife, Alice Pelletier (nee Langlois); brother, Roger Pelletier and daughter. Dr. Lucie Longest. He is survived by his sister, Dolores "Dolly" Reible of Bellevue, WA, and children, Guy Pelletier of Alexandria,VA, Michelle Kirby (Bob) of Edenton, NC, Marc Pelletier of Upper Marlboro, MD, Remi Pelletier of Mechanicsville, VA and Elise Bissell (Kevin) of North Beach, MD. Neil is also survived by grandchildren, Alice, Jennifer, Sarah, Eli, Patrick, Amanda and Christopher; as well as great-grandchildren, Amelia and Cayden. A Mass for the celebration of Neil's life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday,February 9, 2018 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 8710 Mt. Vernon Highway, Alexandria, VA. He will be interred in a private ceremony.
