George was a kind and generous person who offered to coach me gratis when I was in the Singing Sergeants in 1960. A memorable occasion was in 1963 walking to the National Presbyterian Church in Downtown DC while listening to the bell of St Matthews Cathedral tolling for President Kennedy and then hearing a very moving presentation by George and the NPC choir of the Durufle Requiem. Pianist, coach conductor, friend a wonderful gift from God. Thank you Lord for blessing us.

I have many wonderful memories of George. He certainly helped to shape my musical self. I remember one such moment when he gave me the opportunity to play a Bach two-piano concerto with he and the National Gallery of Art Orchestra. I am so sorry that I only saw this death notice now.

George: I cannot begin to express my gratitude for everything you taught me. Working with you over the years was a very special education in and of itself. Thank you and I know that where you are there is some wonderful music. Gratefully, Samuel Gordon, Tenor, The NGA Vocal Arts Quartet; NGA Guest Conductor; and Director of the Choir-in-Consortium for the NGA.
