Harold Tornquist Obituary



TORNQUIST HAROLD OSCAR TORNQUIST On October 15, 2008 at home in Springfield, VA at the age of 88. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Eleanor Tornquist, his children; Lynn Gifford (Brian) and Brad Tornquist (Jennie), grandchildren; Kelly Gifford, Steven Gifford, and Katelyn Tornquist, all from Springfield, VA and a brother, Henning Tornquist of Ewa Beach, HI. Harold was a WWII Navy Veteran, a retired Washington DC Firefighter and worked at the Burke Lake Park for 27 years retiring at age 81. A gathering of family and friends will take place on Thursday, October 23, 2008 from 6 to 8 p.m. with a funeral service on Friday, October 24, 2008, 10 a.m. at Demaine Funeral Home, 5308 Backlick Rd., Springfield, VA 22151. Burial to follow at Quantico National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of America (703) 960-1100

Mrs. Tornquist, sorry for your loss. Mr Harold seemed to be a very fine man. I only meet you two once but, I will not soon forget him. He had some great stories and you could tell he loved telling them. God Bless you and your family. Don't forget if you ever need anything call the guys from Firehouse#22.
