KEATING KARIG CARRIER  
Keating Karig Carrier, 88, of Alexandria, VA passed away under hospice care at home on January 30, 2015. Born in Orange, NJ to Capt. Walter and Eleanor Karig, Keating was married in France to Capt. Francis A. Carrier, who preceded her in death. As a military family they lived abroad in England and France. She is survived by her three daughters, Keating (Birdie) Carrier of Manassas, VA, Monique Weiland of Pasadena, CA, and Martine Baker of Silver Spring, MD; her three grandchildren, Zoya Baker, Arthur Baker, and Eric Weiland and many other family members. The Karig family was part of the iconic group of Seminary Hill residents who shaped that community. Keating graduated from St. Agnes School and attended Bennington College. She had many friends and "adopted" family, pursued various artist endeavors and loved to travel. Horses and antiques were interests of hers, helping her sister, Patty Ruffner, manage Patty's Riding School of Burke, VA, and her brother-in-law, Richard Ruffner, manage the Carousel Antique Shop, Alexandria, VA. Through her father, she was an adopted Indian Princess. She touched everyone who met her; she was generous, full of charity and will be sorely missed. A celebration of her life will be held at a later time.
