MARY ANN MARPLES  
Passed away on Saturday, November 5, 2016, at Heritage Hall Nursing Home in Front Royal, VA. Mrs. Marples was born in Huntington, WV, on January 4, 1928, a daughter of the late Harry and Imogene Blethen. She retired as a part-time Latin teacher at Annandale High School in Annandale, VA. She received her BS from Marshall University and her MS from Columbia University, and attended Ohio State University for science teaching certification. She lived in Annandale for 40 years, and was a longtime congregant--and integral member of the choir--at Immanuel United Methodist Church in Annandale. She enjoyed reading, music, and travel. Beloved wife of the late Richard A. Marples, Mary Ann is survived by her sister, Nancy Britt, of Dayton, OH; her sons, Joe Stanley and wife Kimberly of Front Royal, and Jonathan Marples and wife Sharon of Allen, TX; her daughter, Susan Marples and husband Nelson Young of New York, NY; and her grandchildren, Christopher Stanley, Katy Stanley, Parker Stanley, James Richardson, Benjamin Marples, Kyle Marples, Reese Marples, Brandon Young, and Nolan Young. Her family and friends treasure the memory of her sweetness, warmth, and laughter. Turner Robertshaw Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her name may be made to the American Heart Association. A celebration of her life will be conducted at a later date; details will be posted at Turner Robertshaw.
