Patricia Burdette Obituary

Patricia "Trish" passed away in Inova Loudoun Hospital in Leesburg, VA peacefully in her sleep surrounded by family on March 20, 2024. She was taken from us too soon as she brought love and joy to everyone around her. Her family could not have asked for a better daughter, sister, wife, aunt, mother, and grandmother. She was not only our matriarch, but she was our rock. As she lay passing on her final day, it was not only her family who comforted her, as with all her remaining and waning strength she reached out to let us know everything would be okay, conveying that while her body was failing, her spirit would persevere through all of us. She was not just beautiful on the outside, but infinitely beautiful on the inside.
She was born in Dingess, WV in 1951 to Tennis Sr. and Martely Mullins who instilled in her a strong work ethic and close family ties. She was a coal miner's daughter who grew up in bucolic Chapmanville, West Virginia and attended a school with only four classrooms. She was always fun loving and a bit rambunctious, and even once snuck into a venomous snake handling church just for the experience.
Trish worked as a special education instructor where she cared deeply for her students. She would even buy coats for the children who did not have one as she treated every child as if they were her own. She would bring home paintings and drawings from her students and post them on the refrigerator, which demonstrated the pride she took in her work. She was selfless throughout her life and always put others needs ahead of hers.
Trish and her soon to be soul mate "Chuck" met the love of each other's life in 1971 at Marshall University. Chuck saw Trish at a store just off campus and told his friend she was the most beautiful girl he ever saw—this friend just happened to know someone who knew someone who knew Trish and the rest is history. They began dating shortly after, and excited to start their new lives together, the two were married in 1972, in Ashland Kentucky.
Trish is survived by husband Chuck Burdette, sons Jeffrey Burdette (Courtney), Jimmy Burdette (Maria); grandsons Corbin, Abe, and Finnegan; granddaughter Sydney; brothers, Tennis Jr. (Linda) Mullins; Jack (Diana) Mullins, and her beloved sister Janet Abbott; and wonderful nieces and nephews that she loved very much. She was predeceased by her parents Tennis and Martely Mullins.
A memorial service will be held on March 27, 2024, 12 p.m. at Hall Funeral Home, Purcellville, VA.

My heart breaks for Trish´s family. I have 4 granddaughters and when I see them play together as sisters and cousins I remember the fun I always had playing with Trish and going home to spend the night with her . I regret I did not get to visit with her as an adult. Sounds like she kept her sweetness and kindness that she had as a child. I am sure her family realizes how blessed they have been to have had her as a spouse, mother and sister. Cousin Sue , Mae´s daughter
