ROBERTA "Bobbie" PIOLI

Roberta "Bobbie" Pioli entered eternal life to be with her Heavenly Father on Friday, September 1, 2017, a week after her 86th birthday and her 58th Wedding Anniversary with her husband, Richard T. Pioli. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, John and Frances Beckman, her brother John M. Beckman, Jr., sister Roseanne Beckman Wiedmann, and her eldest son, Martin, who passed away a year ago.

Although a native of Coudersport, PA, she attended high school at the Academy of the Holy Names in Tampa, FL, and graduated with a B.A from Seton Hill College in Greensburg, PA. She then earned an MFA in Speech and Drama at the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC. She taught Speech and Theatre at Marjorie Webster Junior College in DC, and at Montgomery College in Rockville, MD.

After earning her Certificate in Pastoral Ministry at Trinity College, she served as the Director of Religious Education for the Parish of St. Elizabeth in Rockville, MD for approximately 10 years. After her retirement she served for several more years as Director of Adult Education at St. Raphael's Parish in Rockville, MD.

She is survived by her husband, Richard; son, Patrick Pioli (Lori); daughter, Maryrose Pioli Adamek (Carl), and son David (Cheryl), 14 loving grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

While working at St. Elizabeth Parish in Rockville, MD, she developed a senior high school program which touched the lives of countless youths in her parish as well as from other neighboring parishes. As a result of this stellar youth program, she was recognized and honored by receiving the Seton Hill University's Distinguished Alumnae Award in 1998.

After moving to Regency Oaks in Clearwater, FL, she, along with her husband, were active in many residential committees and programs. Together, as opera lovers, they supported the St. Petersburg Opera Company and became very involved in the Opera's Educational Outreach Program whose mission is to create future audiences for opera among school children in Pinellas County, FL.

Bobbie was an extremely beautiful, witty, joyful, loving, compassionate spirit who lit up a room whenever she entered it. With her infectious personality, she attracted many admirers and close friends. She truly loved and lived by her faith which inspired those around her.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 7, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Rockville, MD. Visitation will be at 10 a.m., followed by Mass at 11 a.m. A private burial will follow at a later date.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Bobbie's name may be made to St. Brendan's Parish, St. Petersburg Opera Company's Educational Outreach Program, the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or a charity of your choice.
