SARITA ZELL Obituary
Sarita Hochberg Zell
Of Delray Beach, Florida for the past 21 years, passed away on Monday, November 8, 2021. Born October 20, 1929 in Havana, Cuba. Sarita grew up in Washington, DC. She attended the University of Maryland, graduating in 1951 with a degree in English. Sarita and her husband Sam owned and operated Zell Jewelers in Aspen Hill, MD and Vienna, VA for two decades before retiring to Florida. Sarita was an intellectually curious woman, an entrepreneur, registered gemologist, avid reader, and artist. Sarita was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Samuel R. Zell, and her daughter, Linda Zell Randall. She is survived by her sons Lawrence Marc (Robin) Zell of Israel, their eight children and 18 grandchildren; Brian Kirk (Vicki) Zell of Cherry Hill, NJ, their three children and one grandchild; Wayne Martin (Lorri) Zell of Reston, VA, and their four children; Linda Zell Randall's three children; as well as her sister Marilyn (Dr. Murray) Hammerman and brother Philip (Jane) Hochberg. Service and interment out of state. Contributions in Sarita's memory may be made to Hadassah, 40 Wall Street, New York, NY 10005 or to Birthright Israel Foundation, 711 3rd Avenue 10th floor, New York, NY 10017.
