WALTER BIRCH Obituary


WALTER EDWARD BIRCH (Age 86)  
Of Arlington, Virginia, died Thursday, December 17, 2015 in the Virginia Hospital Center. Walter was born in 1929 in Arlington, the son of the late William Edward Birch and Ruth Margaret Payne. He was a graduate of Arlington''s Washington and Lee High School. He served in the Navy. Walter retired from the Department of the Navy as a civilian employee in 1984. Walter is survived by his wife, Ruth of 61 wonderful years. Surviving with his wife are daughters, Terry McVey, Cindy Ernst, Bonny Pfluger (Kurt) and Janet McCosh; son, Walter Birch Jr. (Nelsie); six grandchildren, three great- grandchildren; and many other family members, nieces and nephews.  Services will be held on Monday, December 21, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Little Falls Presbyterian Church, Little Falls Road, Arlington, Virginia, followed by a small reception before burial at National Memorial Park, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, Virginia. In lieu flowers, donations may be made to Little Falls Presbyterian Church, or charity of choice.
