WILLIAM HAHN Memoriam

William E. Hahn, Jr.
On January 24, 2020, our father, William E. Hahn, Jr. (b. March 20, 1936), of Bethesda, Maryland, passed away. This year has been difficult, and so much more without our dad's love and guidance. Our father had a deep and genuine gentleness and a passion for mechanics. As an electrical engineer for the Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, he was part of the Apollo 11 communication team, taking part in one of the great achievements of the twentieth century. Dad had many gifts; he was artistic, too, a violinist who had a quiet, side-ways sense of humor that he used to make his daughters laugh. To Dad's many friends and to those whom he sheltered and set on a path to a better life: thank you for keeping him in your hearts and reaching out to us. You meant so much to him. In the last, quiet months, he cherished all of you and felt blessed to know you. Bill Hahn was unique, brilliant, funny, humble, and entirely irreplaceable. When we come together again to celebrate his life, we will also celebrate the life of Dad's beloved late wife, Cecilia Olguin Hahn (June 17, 1942-August 8, 2019), who passed away just six months before he did. She loved animals-cats, especially-and lunching with her dearest friends. She lived with a touch of glamour-dressing in style and driving a beautiful car. She was quiet and delicate and so very pretty. In her early life, she studied art and travelled the world, often with her brother, Victor Hugo Olguin, a Chilean diplomat. As it was for many, 2020 was a whirlwind of grief and loss, and we know that those who loved Dad and Cecilia have missed their friendship and care this year, just as we have. There will be brighter days ahead, and at that time, our shared love will reunite us. Until then, please stay safe and be well.
