WILLIAM SCHAEFFLER Obituary

William Abegg Schaeffler "Bill, Dad, Pops"
Bill passed away on April 18, 2017 at the age of 83. He was born in Passaic, NJ, on March 16, 1934. He is survived by his wife for 58 years and best friend, Bernie. Pops loved his five kids, Maureen, Mark, Laurie, John, and Susan and their spouses. He was adored by his 13 grandkids, Kate, Tommy, Ashley, Molly, Burke, Meg, Bryce, Chapin, Brook, Sarah, Jack, Kelly and Sam; and two great-grandchildren, Ali and Luke and his sister Sarah. Family and friends will celebrate his life on Friday, April 28, at 3 p.m., the service and reception will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1205 Dolley Madison Blvd., McLean, VA 22101. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Bill Schaeffler Memorial Fund (www.kippdc.org/bill).

I had the honor to meet "Pops" on two occasions when he and Bernie were visiting with Maureen and family.

Any man who bestowed his values on Maureen, who on so many an occasion was there to support with love and friendship this neighbor, who in turn passed on those values to Ashley, Burke, and Molly, can be none other than "a good man".

The world is a better place for Bill Schaeffler having come its way; may he rest in peace.
