Richard "Rick" Mut

Richard Mut, age 58, of Hamden, CT passed away unexpectedly on May 23, 2025. Born in Derby on May 18, 1967, he was the beloved husband of Lynn DiGirolamo Mut and devoted father to Ryan and Ava Mut. Rick was the cherished son-in-law of the late Rose and Dino DiGirolamo. He is survived by Lori DiGirolamo Friedman (Howard) of Westport and Dino David DiGirolamo of Hamden. He was a proud uncle to seven nieces and nephews and great-uncle to ten great-nieces and nephews. Rick is also survived by parents Samuel and Barbara Mut of Seymour, sister Debra Childs (Seymour) and Robert Mut (Michelle) (Derby). Rick dedicated over 15 years to United Healthcare as Director of Medicare Sales and was a graduate of Southern Connecticut State University. A standout athlete at Ansonia High School, he went on to play for Southern's men's baseball team. Rick was a devoted member of his community. He was a baseball, basketball, soccer and championship winning Pop Warner football coach. He had a deep love for sports - especially the Yankees, Giants, Knicks, and Rangers - and made over 100 trips to Yankee Stadium, creating unforgettable memories. Rick had a deep love for his family, his country, and the people around him. He will be remembered for his contagious laugh, kind heart, and unwavering commitment, especially to those he loved. The visiting hours will be Monday, June 2nd, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM in the Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue. Relatives and friends are invited to go directly to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 2819 Whitney Avenue, Hamden, on Tuesday Morning June 3rd at 10:00 to attend a Mass of Christian burial and to attend the committal services immediately following in Saint Lawrence Cemetery, West Haven.
