David L. Hogan

1938 - 2017

KELLERVILLE, Ill. -- David L. Hogan, 78, of Kellerville, died at 6:35 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27, 2017, at Blessing Hospital, Quincy.

Born Aug. 1, 1938, in Quincy, David was a son of Lewis Hogan and Mabel Tournear Hogan Boling. He married JoAnn Harness on Dec. 2, 1960, in Quincy. She survives.

Mr. Hogan was employed as a truck driver and carpenter, and in later years sold pork rinds and snow cones at local festivals. He enjoyed boating and fishing, and loved camping and cooking. David never met a stranger and enjoyed spending time at the coffee shop visiting with his friends. Mr. Hogan served his country in the U.S. Army.

Surviving in addition to his wife is a son, Dusty Hogan (Cindy) of Kellerville; two daughters, Brenda Riddle (Doug) of Hannibal, Mo., and Maurena Borenson (Clyde) of Clayton; eight grandchildren, Rachel Kuhlmeier of Quincy, Michelle Voth (Lance) of Ursa, Jason Hogan, Chad Hogan (Nikki) and Kyle Hogan (Heather), all of Rushville, Matthew Gauch of Hannibal, Roy Livengood III of Quincy and Shane Livengood (Crystal) of Quincy; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Candice Sue Wright (Ronald) of Kellerville and Peggy Neisen (Jim) of Fowler; and a sister-in-law, Connie Boling of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Kimberley Ann Hogan in infancy and Sheryl Henderson; his identical twin brother, Delbert Hogan; a sister, Lois June Hessling; a brother, Rocky Boling; and his beloved cat, Hootie.

SERVICES: 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31, at Hamilton Funeral Home, Clayton. Burial with military honors will follow in Howe Cemetery, Clayton.

VISITATION: 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 30, at the funeral home.
