Marilyn Kay "Pete" Simmons, age 72, of Knox City, MO, passed away in her home on August 6, 2024. She was born on September 13, 1951, in Knox City, MO the daughter of Harold "Corky" Baxter and Ruby Arment Baxter.
She was united in marriage to Douglas Kent (Stub) Simmons on December 10, 1988, and he preceded her in death on March 18, 2023. Also preceding her in death were her parents and two brothers-in-law Gene Huebotter and Jim Lasswell.
Surviving are two children, Kane Douglas Simmons of Columbia, MO, and Maranda (Robert) Ward of Edina, MO, three grandchildren Wesley Dean Ward, Elijah Walker Ward and Mattie Nicole Ward, five sisters, Betty Huebotter of LaBelle, MO, Karen Laswell of LaBelle, MO, Sharon (Sam) Leslie of Quincy, IL, Jo Baxter of LaBelle, MO, and Rita (Bill) Bozarth of Knox City, MO and special friends Todd & Lori Goodwin.
Pete graduated from Knox County High School in 1969 and later received her Associates in Accounting from John Wood Community College. Pete was employed as a bookkeeper at numerous jobs, retiring from United State Bank in 2016. Pete found pleasure in all things crafty, woodworking, photography, cake decorating and gardening.
She was a 48-year member of P.E.O. Chapter AT and a lifelong member of the Knox City Baptist Church. She loved spoiling her grandkids, dogs and was always willing to let Kane come and fix meals in her kitchen to enjoy with family and friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 10, 2024, in the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, MO. Visitation will begin at 12 noon and services will follow at 2 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Reverend Doug Wilson will officiate the services. Burial will be in the Knox City Cemetery. Musical selections will be Will The Circle Be Unbroken and Scars In Heaven.
Casket bearers will be Todd Goodwin, Trevor Goodwin, Bill Simmons, Robert Ward, Wesley Ward and Elijah Ward.
Memorials are suggested to PEO Chapter AT Scholarship in her memory. Memorials may be left at or mailed to Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1, Edina, MO 63537.
