John Sudick Obituary

SUDICK -John A. Sudick (Age 83) Born November 28, 1921 in Milwaukee, WI., died June 8, 2005 in Whittier, CA. He showed incredible courage and dignity in his battle with leukemia and was surrounded by his children an d grandchildren in his final weeks. John was a long time Whittier resident, having moved here in 1951 from Milwaukee as a manager for Rex Chainbelt Co. (later Rexnord). He was an Army Air Corps pilot in WWII and attended Marquette University after the war. John and Jane were married in November of 1945 and would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this year. He was hired by Rex Chainbelt in 1947 and worked for them until 1983, when he retired. In his retirement he was active in his community, hel ping to keep the city council on their toes. He also worked delivering and transferring cars for several local dealerships. John loved to garden and was active in area Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts over the years. He also enjoyed traveling and made several trips to Europe including a trip to Croatia where he was able to meet his relatives and view his fathers place of birth. All seven of his children attended Whittier area schools, all graduating from Sierra High School. He is survived by his loving wife Jane S udick, six loving children- Lt Col. Todd Sudick USMC, Claudia Tolmie, Laurie Sudick, Charles Sudick, Dr. John Sudick, Jr. DDS and Ruth Sudick. He was preceded in death by his son Robin. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. John and Jane have been members of St. Gregory the Great Church in Whittier for 53 years. A Rosary will be held at White Emerson Mortuary, 13304 E. Philadelphia, Whittier at 3:30PM, June 12. The funeral Mass will be held at St. Gregory's 13935 Telegraph Rd. W hittier at 10:00 AM. June 13. Interment will be at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, in Rowland Hts. immediately after the Mass. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Greater Los Angeles Chapter.
