Paul Fulcher Obituary

Paul O. Fulcher passed away peacefully on February 6, 2015 at Mass General Hospital surrounded by the ones he laughed, loved and lived for, his family. A true and beloved Cape Codder, he was born on September 6, 1951 at Cape Cod Hospital to Herbert Fulcher Sr. and Elva (Healy) Fulcher. He grew up on Governor Prence Road in Eastham until the family moved to Chatham. He graduated from Chatham High School and received an Associates degree from Cape Cod Community College. Paul served in the US Army stationed stateside and in Germany while his brothers Hugh, Byron and Barry served in Viet Nam during the same time. He was extremely proud of his and his wifes family members service in the Armed Services. Paul served for 38 years as Orleans Parks and Beaches Superintendent in what he considered his hometown. His Lifeguards were second to none in his heart. Nauset Beach was his baby, the Ocean his friend. He made himself available to anyone that needed his advice, support and love. Paul served on numerous Town committees (too numerous to list) both elected and appointed. His proudest was as coach of both his daughters soccer, basketball and softball Recreational teams until they and their classmates were in Middle School. He was extremely proud to have written the first Open Space plan for the town. He along with his beloved wife were honored as Citizens of the Year in 2014. Paul was pre-deceased by his parents, Herbert and Elva (Healy); brothers Herbert, Everett (Abe), Charlie and Hugh, his brother-in-laws Richard, Robert, and James Nickerson; his in laws: Roscoe and Elizabeth Nickerson (Brown), his sister in laws: Evelyn, June, and his wife's twin sister, Elizabeth Jane Nickerson; and his great niece Ashley Davenport. He leaves his adoring and beloved wife of 40 years, Margie of Orleans; daughters Vicki Fulcher-LeBlanc and husband Craig of So. Yarmouth; daughter Tina Fulcher-Somerville of Dennisport; his precious grandchildren Cedella Somerville of Dennisport and Bryson Fulcher-LeBlanc of So. Yarmouth; brothers Byron and his wife Linda of Harwich and Barry of Cambridge, Maine; sister-in laws Barbara Fulcher of Eastham; Hilda Davenport of Harwich and numerous nieces and nephews he loved and was so proud of. Paul was an organ donor and encouraged others to do so also. For his family and friends, there couldnt have been a more loving, loyal and true husband, father, brother, Papa and friend. He leaves an unparalleled example of integrity, honesty and how to love his fellow man to all who knew him. His family remembers his love, his playful sense of humor and unassuming manner and care and concern for others. There will be a celebration of his life on Saturday, February, 14, 2015 at the Jailhouse Tavern from 1:00 | 5:00. I had the pleasure of working for Paul for several years at Nauset Beach. He was one of the best bosses I could have had, and made me feel like a trusted and valued employee, even if I was only there seasonally. He will be missed.

My deepest sympathies for Marge and the rest of he family. I was lucky enough to be one of Paul's lifeguards 1983-1987 and they were five of the best summers of my life. Paul always treats us with kindness and respect and as adults even when we got into the "occasional" high-jinx. He will be sorely missed.

I was sorry to hear of Paul's passing. Myself and my brothers Joe, Charlie, Fran and sister Mary worked for Paul as lifeguards at Nauset in the 70's and 80's. Additionally my niece Karen and Nephew Brian worked for him in recent years. He was kind and fair man who trusted and valued all of the guards despite some of our antics! He will be missed.

Margie and family,
Paul and I got to know each other when I worked on the Pops and other concerts. Paul was hard-working, kind, a great problem-solver and very funny. Pops In The Park would never have happened without Paul's help and support. He will be missed. My sincere condolences to you, your family and the Town. Paul's death is a great loss.

To my Cousin Margie and her family, I want to say how sorry I am to hear of your loss. There are really no comforting words one can say at a time like this to ease your pain. You have lost your beloved Paul less then two months after your brother Bob. That is a lot of pain to bear. My prayers are with you all.

Dear Margie and family,

Please accept my sincere sympathy in the loss of Paul. He did so much for the Town; his work is a lasting legacy. In the years I worked for the Town, I often saw Paul, and he always had a smile and a cheerful word. I know his grandchildren brought him great joy; it was nice to meet Sidella at Byron's wedding. Paul will be missed for a long time.
