Joseph E. Bryan

Joseph E. Bryan, of Holbrook, formerly of Roxbury, March 24, 2014 at the age of 87. Husband of the late Dorothy (Titcomb) Bryan. Loving companion of Therese Terry Macdermott of Holbrook. Loving father of Rev. Kathleene Marie Card and her husband Andrew H. Card Jr. of College Station,TX; Jodi Boutwell and her husband Ronald C. Boutwell of Merrimack, N.H.; Joseph E. Bryan Jr. and his companion Barbara Mullen of Brockton, MA; Denise Mary Scully and her husband Brian J. Scully of Abington, MA; Kellie Koury of Holbrook, MA; Dorothy Catherine Bryan-Ployer and her husband Scott F. Ployer Sr. of Holbrook, MA; and the late Deborah Anne Bryan. Dear grandfather of Tabetha Mueller, Rachel Kahler, Drew Card, Bryan Boutwell, Eric Boutwell, Lisa Varano, Brian Scully, Peter Scully, Michael Scully, Peter Koury, Joey Koury and Scott Ployer Jr. He is also survived by 18 great-grandchildren. Joe was born in Boston and lived in Roxbury until moving to Holbrook 60 years ago. He was a retired Vice President of the United Food and Commercial Workers Union, a WWII US Navy Veteran as well as Past Grand Knight of the Fr. Francis X. Bransfield Knights of Columbus. Joe returned to Massasoit Community College at age 75, where he earned his Associates Degree in Liberal Arts. Joe enjoyed music and dancing; his infectious smile and genuine spirit attracted many dear friends throughout his life. Joe will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved him. Reposed at the Cartwright Funeral Home, 69 So. Franklin Street, (Rte 37), Holbrook until 9:45 a.m. on Friday, March 28, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, Holbrook. Visiting hours were on Thursday, March 27, from 4 | 8 p.m. Burial in Union Cemetery, Holbrook, MA. 02343.
