John Hall

John Bartow Hall of Ashfield, MA died at the Hospice of the Fisher Home, Amherst on June 1, 2013 after a long illness. He is survived by his wife Helen, his sons Benjamin, William and Matthew and their wives, six grandchildren and his sister Mary Snow and many nieces and nephews. He was born in New York on February 19, 1925 and spent many summers in Ashfield until he and his wife moved there permanently in 1988, having lived in Marblehead, MA from 1959 to 1988. After serving in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1948, he graduated from Harvard and Cornell Law School, then worked in Boston at the law firm Ropes & Gray and at the First National Bank of Boston, later Bank of Boston, from which he retired in 1986.
