Kenneth J. Wellington

Kenneth J. Wellington of Needham, passed away peacefully on March 17, 2017 after a brief illness. He was 66. Beloved husband of Jean H. Wellington, and loving father of Erica J. Wellington and her husband Dr. David Atherton of Bozeman, MT, and Christopher C. Wellington of N.Oxford. Also survived by a sister, Ann Wellington-Lonergan and her husband Robert of Biddeford, ME, and a brother, Alan M. Wellington and his wife Susan of Needham. Predeceased by his parents, Elliot L. and Margaret M. Wellington. A lifelong resident of Needham, Ken graduated from Needham High School in 1969 and went on to earn a B.S. and M.S. in electrical engineering from Syracuse University. He enjoyed a 40-year career with GTE and General Dynamics before retiring in 2015. Always young-at-heart, he pursued many hobbies with enthusiasm, and he cher- ished vacat ions on Cape Cod and in Maine with his family. Friends and family are invited to a gathering celebrating Kens life on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Union Church in Waban, 14 Collins Road, Waban, MA 02468. Burial will be private.
