NORTH WILKESBORO - Mr. Dock Davis, 82, formerly of Highway 115, died Saturday, March 22, 2003, in Wilkes Regional Medical Center. Mr. Davis was born Oct. 11, 1920, in Wilkes County to Scyular and Naomie McCarter Davis. He was a member of Hunting Creek Baptist Church. Mr. Davis served in the U.S. Army 2nd armored division under Gen. George S. Patton and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. Mr. Davis was a former farmer and employee of Miller Funeral Service. Surviving are a sister, Virginia Leonard of Union Grove; four half-brothers, Issac S. Davis and John William Davis, both of North Wilkesboro, S.C. Davis Jr. of Hendersonville and Gurney Davis of Wilkesboro; and two half-sisters, Margaret D. Souther and Lucille Holland, both of Statesville. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, at Miller Funeral Chapel in North Wilkesboro. Burial with military rites by VFW #1142 will be in Mount Pisgah Baptist Church Cemetery on Statesville Road. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 this evening, March 24, at Miller Funeral Service.
