Ruby Welborn Obituary

WELBORN Mrs. Ruby James Welborn, 75, of Winston-Salem passed away Monday, June 4, 2007, at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born April 23, 1932, in Rockingham County to the late Doss and Myrtle Huffine James. Mrs. Welborn had retired in 1987 from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. with 35 years of service. She was a member of Crews United Methodist Church, Women of the Moose, Lodge No. 466, an avid Bingo player and enjoyed flower gardening. Two sisters, Louise Wingo and Bonnie McNeill; and a brother, Weldon Gordon, preceded her in death. Surviving are her husband, George Welborn, of the home; a son, Bob Gilbert of Minneapolis, Minn.; two grandchildren, Noel and Adrian Gilbert; a sister, Agnes Sigmon of Thaxton, Va.; nieces and nephews Eloise Fralin, John Gordon, Randy Gordon, Dixie Walsh and Libby and Alan Cushman; and a great-niece, Aleena and Dan Felts. A funeral service will be conducted at 7 p.m. today, June 8, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel, with the Rev. Jeff Lonsinger officiating. The family will receive friends after the service. Entombment will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 12, at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown.
