On Monday, Aug. 30, 2004, God dispensed an angel from His throne in heaven, "I have a child, she needs to take her rest, I need her here, they love her but I love her more. She has fought a good fight, it's time to come home my child, Sophia Love." Mrs. Sophia C. Love was born in Youngstown, Ohio on Feb. 24, 1919. She was the only child of the Rev. Gordia and Mrs. Mattie Conley. She grew up in Ohio and later moved to Franklin, N.C. She attended Chapel High School and later studied at Knoxville College in Knoxville, Tenn. She met and fell in love with Graham Love, they were married and to this union eight children were born. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Graham Love; and a grandson, Leanders Love. She leaves to cherish her memories her children, Charles (Arlene) Love, Jerome Love, Alfred Love, Marcellous (Barbara) Love, Hazel (Robert) McKoy, Patricia (Matthew) Corley, Yvonne (Frank) Poole and Gloria (James) Mills; 28 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law; a brother-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends including a very dear and close friend, Ernestine Richardson. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 4, at Mars Hill Baptist Church with Dr. H.L. Moore officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Family visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at the church. (Russell)

I was so said to get my parents, Vonnie and Troy Wood, phone call this morning telling me that Sophia had died. I live in Seoul, Korea and can not make the trip back. She was a wonderful woman and was like a second mother to me and my sisters. I can never remember her ever being upset and raising her voice...she was always loving. When I read all the names of her children it brought back many memories of her talking about each of them. While the faces have escaped my mind each name brings a warm memory of Sophia telling a story. I love her and will always remember her.
