John Zimka Obituary

John L. Zimka, 90, of Shrewsbury, formerly of Westborough, died on Monday, April 28, 2008 at home. He was the husband of the late Wilma (DePadua) Zimka.

Born in Tarrytown, NJ, he was the son of the late Frederick and Bridget (Kaptain) Zimka. He was a 1935 graduate of Tarrytown High School. He also graduated from New York University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and graduated from Columbia University earning a Masters Degree in higher education. He also earned a certificate of taxation from Harvard University.

John was a professor of accounting and finances at Boston College for 25 years. He also taught at Worcester State and at the University of Oxford, England. During WW II he served with the U.S. Army serving in the Pacific Theatre.

He was a communicant of St. Luke the Evangelist Church and a former member of its senior adults. He was a member of the American Accounting Association.

Mr. Zimka leaves no immediate survivors.

His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 30th, at 10:30 A.M. in St. Luke the Evangelist Church, 70 West Main St., Westborough. There are no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Luke the Evangelist Church Memorial Fund, 70 West Main St., Westborough, MA 01581.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Britton-Summers Funeral Home, 4 Church St., Westborough.
