WOONSOCKET - Marcel O. Lariviere left this world to be with his Lord and Savior on January 8, 2016. Born in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late John Baptiste and Cecile (Belanger) Lariviere. Marcel grew up in Woonsocket, later moving to Providence. He graduated from the URI School of Pharmacy in 1981, and was employed as a medical technician for thirty five years servicing the RI community. Most recently he worked the last fifteen years at the Coventry Skilled Center. Marcel was predeceased by his former wife Linda Myra Lariviere.
He leaves two sons whom he is very proud of, Brian J. M. Lariviere of Providence with whom he resided and who was always his close companion, and Robert M. Lariviere of Glocester. His granddaughter Ashley Paige Lariviere was the reason he woke up every day, and put that sparkle and joy in his eyes. He loved his family and friends and was always caring for others.
Marcel was the second oldest in his family, and is survived by his siblings, Gloria Corriveau and her husband Marc, Joanne McGee and her husband Kevin, Ronald Lariviere and his wife Janice, Dennis Fontaine, Diane Lacombe and her husband Rick, and Raymond Kershaw and his wife Carletta. He was also the brother of the late Roland, Robert, Richard and Pauline Lariviere.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday at 10:00 AM in All Saints Church, Rathbun St. Woonsocket. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers donations to Home and Hospice Care of RI, 1085 North Main St., Providence, RI 02904-9826 in his memory would be appreciated. I worked with Marcel many years ago at a nursing home. He was such a hard worker, but full of fun and kindness, too. I know how proud he was of his sons and family. I hope he is free and at peace.

No words can describe how saddened I am to hear about marcels passing. He became part of our family many years ago and was an amazing friend. He took care of my sister, when she became ill and he never left her side. I will never forget all that he has done for me and my family. He truly was an angel and will be missed.

Marcel, I loved all the time we spent together, the parties we had & just the simple times we got together for breakfast. Thank you for always being there to take care of us. I know it was not easy but you did it without any complaints.. Heaven gave us an angel for 64 years but needed you back now. I will see you again when it's my time to go. In the meantime say hi mom for me. I love you.

I was saddened to hear about the loss of my friend, Marcel. My heartfelt condolences go to your family at this challenging time. I will always remember Marcel as the one person in my life that I could always depend on, whether it be a phone call or a visit in person. He always had a way of looking at the positives and believing in me. He always spoke fondly of his sons, his granddaughter, and his family. I miss him greatly.

I had the pleasure of working with Marcel at the Coventry Center and knew him as a professional and perfectionist with such a warm heart. He shared his stories of Ashley's horse shows and his sons' accomplishments - his obvious pride and love so evident. I have been out of touch for several years, but remember him fondly. My sincere sympathies to his family and friends.
