Jim Maxcy Obituary

Baldwyn- Jim Maxcy, 96, passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2025, at his home in Baldwyn, MS. He was a self-employed used car dealer for most of his life. He loved his car lot and selling cars. He spent many years on the road hauling cars and always working to make a better life. Horses and basketball were his two favorite past times when he wasn't working. He especially loved to follow the Baldwyn Bearcat Basketball team. He will be remembered for his unwavering kindness, generous spirit, and the deep, fearless love he had for his family he was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Baldwyn. He is survived by three Granddaughters, Amy Martin (Kevin), Angie Palmer (John), and Jessami Rodgers. Great-Grandchildren, Austin Martin (Mallory), Katlyn Chaney (Richard), Maggie Smith (Evan), Jon Tyler Palmer (Robynne McMillan), Madelyn Palmer (Collin Coggins), Cameron Rodgers, and Colton Rodgers. Great-Great-Grandchildren, Dex Martin, John Rivers Smith, Randy Rhett Martin, Maxcy Kyle Smith, and Shep Smith. Additionally, he cherished his longtime Personal Assistant, Joyce Ragin, and four special Caregivers, Betty Tynes, Camille Bonds, Beth Poppelriter, and Dee Whirley. He was preceded in death by his wife Jo Maxcy, son Jimmy Maxcy, and son Jerry Maxcy. Pallbearers include Jason McKay, Tony Barnes, Zack Barnes, Roy Lee Lowery, John Maxcy, Donnie Abbot, and Mark Ratliff. Visitation will be held at Waters Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m., also at Waters Funeral Home, with Bro. Stanley Huddleston officiating. Burial will take place at Kirkville Cemetery.
