JOHN ALBERT REED, age 75, of Sissonville, formerly of Hurricane and Doddridge County, West Virginia, went to his Heavenly home on Sunday, August 4, 2024, after a long illness. He was born the 4th child of the late Densil Fieldon Reed and Addie Virginia (Nicholson) Reed on the 30th day of March 1949, in Indian Fork, Doddridge County, West Virginia. John had a sister called to her Heavenly home before his birth, Juanita Elloise Reed. He has finally met his sister.
John was loved by many people. He possessed a "this too shall pass" attitude and a love for his family like no other. His love for his family was paralleled by his love for the Lord. John was raised by his widowed mother from the age of 3 years after the tragic passing of his father on March 31, 1952.
Prior to his heart transplant, he worked in banking with his final employment being with the Winfield branch of The Buffalo Bank, where he served as the Executive Vice President until March 1, 1993. On April 29, 1993, John received a donor's heart, and that heart would give him life for more than 31 years, and the ability to see his children graduate from high school, start families, and meet his grandchildren and some of his great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his 2 sisters, Wanda Louise (Reed) Michaelis and Juanita Elloise Reed, his grandparents, a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.
John is survived by his two children, Danny Reed, and wife, Tonya, of Liberty, WV, and Shelly Boggs, and husband, Gary, of Sissonville, WV, grandchildren, Daniel Reed, and wife, Courtney, of Jackson County, WV, Autum Hall, and husband, Luke, of Ripley, WV, Shawna Ritchie, and husband, Kyler, of Tucson, AZ, Stephen Vreyens, and wife, Sidney, of Chapin, SC, CJ and Christian Smith, of Sissonville, WV. His two bonus grandchildren also survive John, and they are Gary D. Boggs, II, and wife, Ashton, of Fairmont, WV, and Zoe Boggs, of Morgantown, WV. John is also survived by great-grandchildren, Parker and Jamie Ritchie of Tucson, AZ, Hudson Hall of Ripley, WV, and Kora Vreyens, of Chapin, SC, as well as 2 great-grandsons due later this year. John is also survived by his brother, Darrell E. Reed, and wife, Ersel, of Roberts Fork, Doddridge County, West Virginia, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Per John's wishes, his body will be cremated and interred privately by his children. His family would like to thank the staff at CAMC Memorial Hospital and Cedar Ridge Center, especially Kassie Craddock and Garrett Hastings, for all the loving care and support shown to John and his family during this difficult time.
