Robert Adkins Obituary
ROBERT LEE ADKINS, 70, of South Charleston departed this life, Sunday, June 2, 2024 at Putnam Center, Teays Valley.
He was born October 21, 1953 in Charleston, WV. A son of the late, John R. and Elizabeth (Gump) Adkins. Also preceding him in death are siblings, Elizabeth Hinzman, John Adkins, Daniel Adkins, Clara Pistore, Helen Teal, Mabel Dunning, Mary Boggess and Wallace Adkins.
Robert was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. He was a longtime independent contractor and skilled craftsman. He served his country in the United States Army and was airborne special forces. He also retired from the reserves as supply sergeant.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Debra Ann (Fields) Adkins; children, Mark A. Adkins and Wendy Cato (John); sisters, Dorothy Byrd and Barbara Chandler; brothers, Eugene Adkins and James Holdren; grandchildren, Kelly and Lane Cato, Danny Wilcox and April Adkins as well as a host of other family and friends.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery, Dunbar where he will be laid to rest with Pastor Jody Pistore officiating.
Family and friends will gather for a time of visitation from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., Tuesday, at the mortuary.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8516.

I believe this is my cousin. I am Mary Hopkins, Sadie´s daughter. I worked wit Robert on some projects while I worked at Peerless Block. My sincere condolences. He was a good person.

I first met Robert when my parents bought a house from his mom & dad on Smith Creek Road. I will always remember his smile and kind hearted demeanor. I remember the day his mom told the church he had joined the military. It was a hard time for everyone at that time, due to Vietnam War/Conflict. He was a strong person and a hard worker. He will be missed.
