Barbara Waters, age 86, died from a heart ailment on October 14, 2020 in Morristown, NJ.

She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Terrence Waters III (1978), proud mother to Terry, Katherine, Shelagh, Julie, Michael, Anne, Patrick and their spouses, and a devoted grandmother to Jeb, Tade, Caroline, Grace, Gregory, Meaghan, Kelly, Margaret, Madison, Connor, Harrison, Lucy and Joe.

She was daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Green and sister to Sheila, Patrick, Joseph, Michael, Kevin and Thomas.

Barbara was born in Rock Island, Illinois, and spent her childhood in the Midwest, before relocating to Madison, NJ. She met the love of her life, Joe Waters, on the beach in Bay Head, NJ. They married in 1958, settling in North Caldwell, NJ, to raise their seven children.

Following her husband's passing, Barbara worked on multiple high-profile projects including large scale events for The Meadowlands Sports Complex, The 42 Street Redevelopment Corporation, The Paul Taylor Dance Company,The Liberty Cup Sailing Series and New York's Theater Row.

As a breast cancer survivor, she was passionate about her work at The Susan B Komen for the Cure Foundation in Summit, NJ. As the Director of Education and Outreach until retiring in 2011, she counseled young and at-risk women on breast cancer prevention and treatment. A career highlight was traveling to Budapest, Hungary for first lady Laura W. Bush's Institute for Women's Health.

Barbara attended St. Elizabeth's College and Caldwell College for her degree in music. Her greatest joy was listening, playing, and composing classical music for piano and organ.

A devout Catholic, she was a parishioner and organist at Notre Dame Church in New Jersey for many years.

Due to Covid-19, her memorial mass and service is postponed. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to one of Barbara's favorite charities, New Jersey Battered Women's Services, www.jbws.org.
