Dearest Lisa, I am deeply saddened to learn the news of Bernie. He was a very compassionate man that loved his family. I will always remember his smile and spirit for life. It is difficult to imagine life without Bernie in the driver's seat. He was a force of nature, supremely confident and oh so strong. His absence leaves a great void and Life will never be the same. Yet, thankfully, he also leaves us his legacy of great love, strength, wisdom and spirit ... these will last forever.

Lisa and Abbey, my thoughts and prayers are with you both as you go through this terrible loss. Bernie was the kind of person who touched the lives of all who knew him in a special way. I have wonderful memories of him at Relay for Life, the art auction, working in the outdoor classroom, and pitching in to do anything that was needed for the kids at Magnolia Trace. He always had a wonderful smile for everyone, and a great sense of humor. His family was the most important thing in the world to him. I can't imagine what you are going through now. Bernie was such a special husband and father. He'll be missed by everyone, but especially by his two girls. I know his job of caring for you on this earth was cut way too short, but he must be watching over you from Heaven now. You are in my thoughts and prayers. I miss you guys.

Words along can not express how deeply sorrow I am for your loss. I can't even imagine how much pain you two must be going through but only through God can you find peace and the strength to go on. There is a photograph I walk past every day of Bernie, Roland, my brother Paul, Scott Parker and Bobby LeClaire when they were the Mahar Fish'N Game Club Trap Shooting Team and defeated Athol. Bernie is flashing his trademark smile. It brings me so many memories of Bernie as a young man. It is obvious that Bernie the husband, father, worker, neighbor and man was very special and those who knew him were better for it.

None of us can imagine the difficult time you have both been through and the sorrow you both must feel at losing Bernie. We remember him so fondly from our days in Mandeville and what a nice man he was. He was always there to help us in our efforts to do good things in our school and community. I recall clearly that he had a wry sense of humor and good work ethic. He was especially proud of his hard-working and wonderful wife and smart, pretty daughter. The Bernie we knew would want you to be strong and live your life to the very fullest!

I wanted to share with you part of an email that one of my good friends sent me.
"My condolences to your family. Please let us know if we can do anything. I read the article and it sounds like your uncle was a wonderful man. It seems like the best always go so young. Last night there was a really great quote in the book I am reading saying something to the effect of, those who are meant to die young have a strange premonition of the shortened hours...and this lends their short life a kind of intensity that others don't have. It struck me how true that is. Anyways, I hope you remember the good times and keep him in your heart. Lots of Love, Sita."

What a terrible loss for you, Abbey, and the Jean family. Sometimes you have to wonder what the big guy upstairs is thinking when unfortunate situations like this happen to good people. Bernie certainly was one of the good guys. I have very fond memories of spending time with him back in the (awesome) ‘80s. I’m so thankful I had the opportunity to know him! Bernie's passing... he was a boarder at my father's house for years, my fondest memories of him are of smiles & laughter. he always found humor in whatever the subject was. He was a great guy, & I'm saddened that he has passed away. I'm hoping he can hear my thoughts.

Dear Abbey and Mrs. Lisa,
One of the best memories I have with your Dad was when he tried to build us the "CarWash" truck for our 3rd grade talent show. He worked so hard on it all day and we just sat back and laughed. Remember when we were trying to figure out how to crawl in and out of it and almost tore it apart. I am so glad that he was a good sport about it and laughed along with us!!! I know it is hard now but when you are able and want to talk, I will be there for you. Love ya lots...BFF...

Dear Ms. Lisa and Abbey: I am sorry about what happened to Mr. Bernie. Mr. Bernie was a great guy. Mr. Bernie always cut up with me when I was little. I really liked it when you came to our house for Easter, but I missed him a lot not living here. It was so much fun to see him when he came to visit when he was in town. I didn't know Bernie all that well but, Lisa you always spoke to me about him and I know he will be greatly missed by you and Abbey. The three of you were the perfect family. I know you have a long journey ahead and I can't imagine the pain you are feeling. Remember all the good times you shared together and as a family. Memories last forever. My thoughts and prayers are with you and Abbey.
