Darwin S. Bupp

MANCHESTER TWP. Darwin S. Bupp died Friday, August 30, 2013. He was 89. Mr. Bupp was the husband of the late Charlotte M. (Peters) Bupp. He was a graduate of Shippensburg State Teacher's College Class of 1950 and had a Master of Education Degree from Western Maryland College. Darwin was a teacher for 38 years with the West York Area High School retiring in 1988. He was also head basketball coach for 20 years and Athletic Director for 32 years. He was a U.S. Navy veteran having served in WWII. A member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, his other memberships include the Viking Athletic Association, V.F.W. West York Post # 8951, the Shiloh American Legion and the Golden Nuggets. Born in York on November 22, 1923, he was the son of the late Harry W. and Mary Helen (Bentzel) Bupp. He leaves a son, Christopher M. Bupp and his wife, Pamela, of York; two grandchildren, Brittany and Derek; and a great-grandson, Keaton. Viewing will be 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday at the Koller Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 2000 W. Market St., York. An additional viewing will be held 10 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 839 W. Market St., York. The service will follow at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the church.
