William Albrecht Obituary
William M. Albrecht ENDWELL, NY William Melvin Albrecht, 78, born February 18, 1926, passed away Sunday, May 16, 2004. He was predeceased by his loving wife Kathleen Mae (Eyster) Albrecht, and his parents Harry Walter and Vivian (Shaffer) Albrecht. He is survived by his eight children, Gary Gene and Kathi Albrecht; Jeffery Lee and Eva Albrecht; Robert Kent and Cathy Albrecht; Phillip Dean Albrecht; Cheryl Lynelle and Marc Henry; Keith Allen Albrecht; Karen Eileen Albrecht; Marsha Gail and Gerald Bakeman; 11 grandchildren, Brad, Danielle, Glenn, Christopher, Nicole, Melissa, Elizabeth, and Michael Albrecht; Bret, Kevin, and Kristin Henry; and a brother, John and Dorcas Albrecht of Shrewsbury. He graduated from West York High in 1944, graduated from Lebanon Valley College with a BS Chemistry and the University of Cincinnati with his MS in Physical Chemistry. He was a veteran of WWII, in which he had a medical discharge awarded Bronze Battle Star and a Purple Heart; and was an employee of IBM, Endicott from 1960-1982. His memberships, awards, publications and recognitions include, Chairman, Phi lambda Upsilon American Society of Metals, Sigma Xi-Honorary Society for Scientist-Scientific Research Society, American Chemical Society, American Chemical Society, American Society for Metals, ElectroChemical Society, American Society for Testing and Materials, Listed in American Member of Science, 17 publications in the field of gas metal systems, 1967 Listed in Who's Who in the East, 1966 Outstanding Contribution Award from IBM Corp. He was part owner and cook for The Inn Restaurant in Endicott, NY. He loved cooking, gardening, reading and being with his family. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday at 1 p.m. at Northminster Presbyterian Church, Farm to Market Rd. Endwell. Dr. Brian Albrecht, President of Global Outreach Mission, will officiate. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in his memory may be made to the Music Department, c/o Binghamton University. Allen Memorial Home, 511-513 East Main Street, Endicott, NY, is in charge of arrangements.
