Raymond L. "Ray" Omen

ZANESVILLE: Raymond L. "Ray" Omen, 69 of Zanesville, passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2015, at Genesis Hospice Morrison House, surrounded by his family.

He was born September 23, 1946 in Zanesville a son of the late Joseph and Hazel Arbuckle Omen. He was a 1964 graduate of Zanesville High School and graduated from Ohio University with a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration. He was employed at Century National Bank as a Commercial Loan officer. He served his country and protected our freedoms while serving in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Over the years Ray was involved in the American Legion, VFW, East Side Community Ministries Board, United Way and many other community service organizations.

Family was very important to Ray and he loved to attend the sporting events of his grandsons. Ray also enjoyed golfing with "Burkey's Group" for many years. He also enjoyed his Poker Club of 35 years and Wednesday night dinner group. He was an avid Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Indians and Ohio State Buckeye fan.

Ray is survived by his wife, Linda Leake Omen; one son, Craig (Erin) Omen of Zanesville; one daughter, Alison (Michael) Sowards of Oak Ridge, NC; one brother, Richard (Suzanne) Omen of Zanesville; four grandsons, Jake and Deagan Sowards and Tyson and Cash Omen; brother and sisters-in-law, Rita Omen, Kelly Tucker both of Zanesville, Randy and Bobbi Prevo of Liberty, NC and Bill and Julie Leake of Zanesville; mother-in-law, Margie Leake of Zanesville; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Joseph Omen Jr. and father-in-law, Bob Leake.

Calling hours will be held 2-4 and 6-8 Thursday, December 10, 2015 at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME, 1150 WEST MILITARY ROAD, ZANESVILLE. Funeral services will be held 2pm Friday December 11, 2015 in the Snouffer Chapel with Chaplain Tim Patton officiating. Burial will conclude at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery with Full Military Rites by George Selsam VFW Post 1058 Zanesville, OH.

I am so sorry to hear about Rays passing. I became very fond of 'Ravishing Ray' as I called him, when I worked at Crystal Springs Golf Club. I'm sure he'll be deeply missed as he was one heck of a man!
