Vail Fleischmann Obituary
Waterville
Mr. Vail Fleischmann, 80, passed away Sunday, November 22, 2009, at the Harding Nursing Home. He was born February 26, 1929, in Hamburg and resided in Pensacola, FL, for the past 36 years. He graduated from Waterville Central School, class of 1947, and attended the University of Buffalo and Ohio State University. Vail was a Corporal with the US Army during the Korean War, serving in the Philippines. He was a surveyor for AeroService, traveling both abroad and working in numerous locations in the US. In later years, he was a realtor and volunteered for Alzheimer's and Project Shine in Pensacola. He was an avid photographer, reader and outdoorsman. He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Kenneth Ingersoll of Waterville; his brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Janice Fleischmann of East Syracuse; and several nieces, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his wife of 37 years, Edith Barlow Fleischmann; his parents, Frances and John Dudley Fleischmann; and his brother, Frank Fleischmann. Services will be Wednesday, December 2, 2009, at 11 a.m. in the Chapel at Crown Hill Memorial Park, Kirkland, with The Rev. Ann Stillman officiating. There are no calling hours. By family request, please omit flowers. Donations may be made to the Harding Nursing Home, 220 Tower St., Waterville, NY 13480. Dear Jan & Paul, Ann & Ken,
Please accept my sympathy on the death of your brother. Vail was blessed to have your loving care in his last few months, and you are blessed by your caring as well. There is nothing simple or easy about that kind of love, but it is a great gift. May your brother rest in peace, and may all of you find peace as well.
