My dear friend... as I noted 14 years ago, your footprint upon the DC area art scene has but grown deeper and more important as your historical efforts are the key documentation of the area's gallery art scene for many years; your hard work and effort lives forever!

Ken Oda was a member of the Washington Print Club, writing on contemporary art on paper for our Quarterly. His inteligence and passion were valued during his lifetime and will be missed by the Print Club and all others who knew him.

Ken was a friend who always was ready to talk about art. I'm sad to hear this news. I've hoped of running into him again. He told me he stopped publishing his KOAN art newsletter so he could take time to write a successful novel. Then he would devote more time to the art world. I traded a painting for 10 full page ads in his newsletter and later he bought one of my Citiscapes made of circuit boards and electronic parts - he wanted the simplist one made purely of circuit boards painted copper. This to him was the essence of the transformatiom to a citiscape.
I always enjoyed running into him at a gallery and will miss his sense of humor.

Fair Winds and following seas my good friend. Your impact upon the Greater Washington area art scene will live not only in the hearts and memories of many DC artists and dealers, but also in the silent thanks of future art historians.

In 1996 Ken was the first person who assisted me in becoming familiar with the DC art scene. His kindness and willingness to help have rarely been matched. Ken, KOAN and ArtWOW have a permanent place in my memory. Thanks Ken.

I first met Ken in 1997 when he mentioned my work in his KOAN review of the "7th Street International II" exhibit. He later selected my work for an "eklektikos gallery" show. He was a genereous and fervent supporter of the DC arts scene and he will be missed.

Ken was among the most effervescent players in our arts and culture community and his contributions (with special mention of KOAN) was lifeblood to so many of the arts and culture groups in the Greater DC Metro. From all of your friends at Millennium Arts Salon, we are thanking you and bid you farewell, Kenji Oda, 'til we see you again.

Ken made so many wonderful contributions to the Washington arts community. His passing is deeply lamented -- he was a gifted, caring man with a great sense of humor.
