I still haven't really gotten over Mr. N's death.
I wish I would've visited him more. I wish I could've done something or at least had seen him more recently. He inspired me so much I can't even express it. He made me passionate about, and genuinely appreciated my writing... and now I plan to go to college for it. I truly believe I would've never pursued it if it hadn't been for him. I wish I could've told him this. I wish I could tell him a lot of things. He was the best teacher I've ever had and I miss him, so, so much.

i was a former student before he died.I was his last class as you would say.He was my favriote teacher ever. He always brought learning above the textbooks and really helped us understand things in fun easy ways. You were able to tell him anything he found out about alot of things from us and he was always intrested in what you had to say. He was always there for everyone and made you laugh every second of the day you were with him.I remember i was always so excited to go to school just to see him and if we had a subsitute i didn't want to go because i knew it wouldn't be any fun that day.He called me "breezy" which still touches my heart to this day.He was more than a teacher to me more like a dad.He always tryed to be invovled with us and he always tryed to work out things with the class and make us a whole team.Even if he made me mad by yelling at me or something it would only last a second beause id be laughing again. He will always have a place in my heart. if only he could see how much i have grown and changed but more importanly learned from him.I know he would be proud of all of us for staying strong when we all came apart without him. It is very hard without him around. He was like my bestfriend i could tell him anything and he always gave such great advice. And i loved how he had such a fun loving carefree personality he was never afraid to be himself around us he would even sing his favriote songs at the most random times.Like photograph was the one he sang the most.He is missed and loved very much by me and all of his students.
i will never ever forget him.
he is truley my inspiration and hero[:
R.I.P Mr.N forever you are in my heart<3

Mr.N was a very loved teacher. Every student that met him would always want to be in his class. I was a lucky one that had him for math. He helped me learn many things that I struggled with in math and many things I will always remember. He was also there for all of us especially when we had a problem, he solved a lot of mine. We all miss him dearly and he will always have a place in all of his students hearts. Like he told us all near the end of the year, he will be there at our graduation in the front row cheering us on, when that day comes, he will be there not in the physical sense, but the mental sense and in our hearts which is even closer than the front row.

To all who have taken the time to share their words of comfort:
I just wanted to express my heartfelt gratitude for all the support, prayers and memories of Jason that you have offered to me and the boys. It will go a long way in helping us to heal. As I read through the names of students and friends of long ago, I recognize many that Jason has spoken of fondly through the years. The boys, especially our oldest son, Ryan, have really found comfort in your expressions of kindness.
God bless.

Jason was in my class at McDaniel College the summer of 1999, and I recorded in my record book that he made his group's presentation exceptional! From the many tributes he has received he must have been a master teacher; he was also an impressive learner. Please accept my condolences.

Mr.N was one of the my son Cody's teachers last year. Cody loved Mr.N. He worked very hard to keep Cody on the straight and narrow and even tutored him all of this past summer. He was an AWESOME man. He will forever be with his students and friends. I am thankful that I got to know him.

I am so thankful that my son, Christopher, could share a part in Mr N's life. I believe Mr. N will always be his hero. Not a day passed that Christopher didn't say, "Mr N said or Mr N did". I remember once talking to Christopher about drugs and the fears I had for him as he grew up. He said, "Mom, I'm never gonna do it, Mr N told me how bad it was". He was much more than a teacher, he could feel their hearts and listen to their soul, he made life a part of learning. As I look back on the Memorial Service and I see those 5 boys crying over the loss of their 6th grade teacher I realize that, although they don't know it yet, Mr N just taught them one last lesson of life. I'm sure that a part of him will forever be with each of his students.
To all of Jasons family and especially his boys, you were truly blessed to have shared in the life of such a caring and compassionate man. My son and I are keeping you very close to our hearts and in our prayers.

To Jason's Family -
My son is a fifth grade student at Shrewsbury Elementary and was never into participating in after-school activities, however, when he found out Mr. N. was coaching basketball, he immediately wanted to participate. He thought Mr. N. was so much fun. My son (Ian) and husband went to the "Final Four" games in Indianapolis this past year and Ian wanted to buy Mr. N. a "Final Four" hat as a souvenir (because Mr. N. was jealous my son got to go and he didn't). Mr. N. LOVED the hat and he told Ian he placed the hat in a special place. We still have his thank you note and every time he saw me at school he would thank me over and over again for the hat. Last year I served as the Memory Book chairperson and had to work closely with Jason and his students. I can honestly tell you that his students loved him very much. I never met students who talked about a teacher as much as they did of Mr. N.. You could just feel the energy coming off the kids when they were in his class. Jason's passion for his students and his love of teaching was, without a doubt, a special gift from God. May God be with your family during this very difficult time.

Mr. N was byfar the greatest teacher I had in my K-12 education. He taught us so much about the civil war and that learning was entertaining, especially his examples with Jackie Chan, or whichever kung fu celebrity came to mind. We will all miss you, Mr. N, with all our hearts.

My sincere sympathy goes out to Jason's family. Ryan and Matthew, we're thinking of you and you are in our prayers. I got to know Jason after our sons became friends a few years back, and my older children took tennis lessons from him. They always looked forward to their lesson and always returned happy and laughing. Reading all the comments left for Jason and the long lasting impressions he made on so many who knew him, I can see he was truly a remarkable individual.
May he rest in peace.

To the family of Jason Nesselrodt - Jason was such a great teacher. As Secretary to the Superintendent, I met Jason when he was first hired in 1997. Since that time, I had numerous conversations with him. He was always a gentleman. I always heard great things about him. He will definitely be missed.
My thoughts and prayers are with the entire family in this time of grief. May your memories bring you comfort.

Mr. Nesselrodt has been and will remain my favorite teacher. I was his student in 5th grade, and it was the best year of my life. I remember the books we read, "Walk Two Moons" is still my favorite book of all time, and I remember games of Capture the Flag as a reward for good behavior. It's been 7 years since I have had him as a teacher, but 5th grade left such a deep impression on me. I send my deepest sympathies to Mr. N's family and friends, and he will be missed.

Mr. Nesselrodt was my fifth grade teacher and one of the most influential teachers I ever had. He taught me more than any book could ever teach. He even came to my high school graduation and continued to guide me. I will always remeber everything he taught me about life.
I extend my greatest sympathies to his family and friends. He will be greatly missed.

Friends and family of Mr. Nesselrodt, I would just like to offer my dearest sympathies for your loss. Mr. N was my fifth grade teacher eight years ago. He was such an inspiring teacher and so increadibly dedicated to his students. I can still remember how he excited he made our whole class about the Civil War with his soldier tent and Civil War ghost stories, that silly koosh ball that he would throw around the classroom, and staying after school with my friends just so we could play basketball and hang out with Mr. N. He truly was a teacher and a friend who inspired us to want to do more than just learn, but to be good people. I am so thankful and blessed that Mr. N was in my life. I know he is at peace now, watching over all of his students and loved ones.
My prayers are with all of you. God bless.

Whether it was Parent Teacher conferences or classroom visitations, I could tell that Jason, "Mr.N" had a passion for his students and his students knew it, and benefited as a result. His good nature and warmth put students and parents at ease. I believe this warmth and passion lives on in some way with each life he touched. May God comfort your family and all who knew "Mr.N."

He was admired and I can even say loved by his students and will be sorely missed.Ron,Sharon,John and Morgan Farinetti

I would like to extend my sincerest condolences to the entire family of Mr. Nesselrodt, although I only met him a handful of times while my daughter was in his sixth grade class. It is the lasting impression that he has left with Nicole, my youngest daughter. After the untimely death of my husband in 2001, my two daughters and I moved from Glen Rock to Shrewsbury, which meant a new school for Nicole. She was fortunate enough to be assigned to Mr. Nesselrodt’s class, what a blessing! Not only did he make Nicole’s transition from Friendship Elementary to Shrewsbury Elementary as painless as possible, he really spent time with her and helped her through some of her grief. He was more than her teacher, he was her friend. In fact, Nicole has peaked an interest in becoming a teacher, I can’t help but think Mr. Nesselrodt’s influence had something to do with that. Nicole most recently saw Mr. Nesselrodt this past June, at Susquehannock’s graduation. She was so impressed that he had remembered her after three years and took the time to talk with her and catch up with her life. What an incredible man, teacher and mentor. I know Nicole’s life is more enriched because of Mr. Nesselrodt. Again, our thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this most difficult time. Dawn (Marchio) Baer and Nicole Marchio

To all who love Jason...
I first met Jason when he was Caitlin's fifth grade teacher. He was probably one the best educators I have known. We just loved him!
As time passed, I personally got to know Jason through "friends." We had a lot in common and my admiration for him grew.
Upon hearing of his passing, I felt as though time was standing still. Jason will be missed by so many. The Hittie Family expresses it's condolences.

Jason had touched our lives and expressed such an interest in learning that it was hard to miss his enthusiasm for his students. Lauren was a better student for having him as her teacher. He was an extraordinary teacher and will be missed greatly by everyone who had the opportunity to meet him. Our thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief.

To all of Jason's family and friends, we are so sorry for your loss. My son Paul Schiffbauer had Mr."N" last year and I was one of his volunteers. I can honestly say he was a wonderful person and a great teacher. He always went the extra mile for his students and he made each one feel special. He will always be remembered for his great stories and sense of humor, also for the time he took to teach the kids basketball and tutoring. Last year he took the time to nominate several students for the Junior National Young Leaders Conference and the People To People Ambassador Program. My son Paul was one of those students and we can not thank him enough for taking interest into our son. Paul attended the JRNYLC this summer and he had a great time,he will then go to Boston next summer as part of the Alumni. Paul will be doing the People To People Program in April. I know Mr. "N" was so excited and proud that his son was the only 5th grader in his school to get nominated for the JRNYLC. We hope you got to go and enjoyed it as much as Paul. Ryan and Matthew your dad loved you so much and he was so proud of both of you. He will be truly missed. Love,Paul,Beth,Paul Jr.,& Matthew Schiffbauer

I had met Jason a few times at school functions for Bermudian Springs, the 4th grade pic nic; we worked together at one of the games, and we were both chaperones for a fieldtrip to Gettysburg Battlefield. He was always so enthusiastic, loved the kids, and just seemed to have a genuine spirit about him. He made an impression on me. I am so very sorry for your loss. I will continue to pray for comfort for your family. Sincerely, Julie Hennon
