Philip Nauert Obituary

Philip Nauert
04/24/1957 - 07/09/2025
Philip Lyle Nauert, 68, passed away peacefully on July 9th, 2025 at his home in Twin Falls, Idaho after a battle with pancreatic cancer. Phil was born on April 24th, 1957 in Rantoul, IL to Nicholas Henry Nauert and Lois Alva (Pach) Nauert, and spent his childhood moving between air force bases before settling in Houston, Texas. He graduated from Baylor University in 1979 and then earned his DDS in 1983 from the UT San Antonio school of Dentistry. After graduating, Phil married Sandra Giere Nauert on June 25th, 1983 in Houston. He served his community with dedication and integrity, practicing dentistry for 36 years at Contemporary Dental in Bellaire, Texas. He served on the Bellaire city council for 12 years and as Bellaire mayor for 4 years where his proudest accomplishment was the founding and development of Evelyn's Park. He served as President of the Harris County Mayor's and Council's Association and chair of the DENPAC for the Texas Dental Association. Phil also served his community through Rotary club for 22 years, first in Bellaire and later in Twin Falls. Phil and Sandra moved to Twin Falls, Idaho in 2021 to pursue their dream of exploring the American West in their RV where they found good friends and a welcoming community. After retiring to Twin Falls, Phil was honored to serve his new community by volunteering at the Wellness Tree, a free community health clinic.
Phil is survived by his wife, Sandra; his children Scott Nauert (Amanda Walborn) and Laura Nauert (Alexander Beck); his brother, David Nauert; and his sisters Joyce Francis and Nikki (David) Truhan. A memorial service for Phil will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church on Monday, July 14th at 11:00 am mountain time and will be livestreamed at his obituary page at rosenaufuneralhome.com. Donations in Phil's memory may be made to the Wellness Tree in Twin Falls or M.D. Anderson Cancer Center for Pancreatic Research at mdanderson.org/gifts.

Phil and I worked closely together in Houston to treat mutual dental patients. A good friend and a highly skilled and knowledgeable dentist with a very friendly personality. I am sorry to hear of his passing.

I really enjoyed Phil´s humor and he did a great job putting veneers on my front teeth in the early 90´s which made a huge difference in my appearance and self esteem. I am very saddened to hear of his passing. He will be sorely missed.

Dr. Nauert, alias Dr. Shot, was my dentist the entire 10-12 years I was in Houston. He was a really great gentle dentist. I loved talking to him about restoring the Packard automobile he was working on. We had good discussions on Packard history in automobiles as well as in PT boats in WWII. What a great guy. So sorry that he is gone too dang soon! Prayers to the family. Thank you for taking care of my mouth like no one has before or since!

Sailing, camping and non stop studying. We watched each other's families grow and our practices develop. So many memories. So sad to see him go.

Dr. Nauert was a fine man who died too soon. I was a patient who hated shots. He always assured me he had the fastest thumbs in the business -- jiggled my cheek and distracted me from the sting. He was looking forward to his retirement. I'm so sorry for his loss to his wife and family.

Dr. Nauert was one of those people who radiated compassion and curiosity. I only knew him in what were to be his final years, through serving on a committee together and at the occasional event. Every time, I looked forward to seeing him and hearing his unique perspective. I can say with confidence, he left his community better than he is found it. He will be missed.
