Because of a young child here in my community nearly being taken I have thought about your family. We lived down there by your family when Kelsey was taken. I was looking for her on my own hoping to see a glimpse of her in the area. My neighbors were in school with her at WEST.
Now I am in another community and all I can think is that we stopped a sick man from taking someone else's child. I want to thank you for everything you have done. Thank you!

I've worn a 'Kelsey's Army' bracelet every day without pause since 2007. I ordered two when they came out so that I would have a spare. Sadly, just yesterday my second and last bracelet broke. It's become such a part of my life, that I did not hesitate to sign on and order two more, along with some other gear. More importantly, it reminded me to come back and donate once again to this important cause.
I will never forget the summer of 2007. Kelsey will always be missed, and I was glad to have had the opportunity to know her.

I have never forgotten this story. After I heard the news about Kelsey, it was around the time I was graduating college and could not figure out what to earn my masters degree for. I then decided to become a school counselor and I teach lesson plans to 400 students about safety. I speak of Kelsey during my safety lessons as well as Natalee Holloway. I am hoping to make a difference in my students and protect them. God bless.

I wanted to let Missey Smith know that Kelsey stays in my thoughts always.. the end of June 2007 I was 24 petite same size as your daughter. In Fairborn OH I was the victim of a attempted kidnap & car jacking on my graduation night from nursing school. I had just lost my father in a accident in march. Your daughters attack was fresh in my mind during my altercation with the assailant. knowing what had happened with your daughter gave me the strength and courage to fight back. The man tried shoving me into my passenger seat and all I kept thinking about was Kelsey and what had happened to her. I wasn't going to let him take me. Visions of your daughter flashed in my head.. The man was able to get into the drivers side seat I threw my leg out side of the car preventing him from shutting the door. I fought the attacker and was able to get out of the car. I kicked and screamed while he was trying to rob me. He finally gave up and ran away... The man was never found... Some how I believe your daughter was my guardian angel that night. My heart goes out to you and your family during this holiday season. I just saw your story on Investigation Discovery and it brought back all those memories again.

I didn't know about Kelsey until my father called me the day the case made it to national news - he wanted to make sure I was alright because he had only heard "Kelsy Smith", and to make sure I saw it the story on the news. I never knew this girl who seemed so much like me. But hopefully she will have peace now. I carry mace in my bag because of her.

The last time I saw Kelsey was when my row stood up to get ready to walk across the stage at our high school graduation. Her row was behind mine. As I walked pasted her, I said, "Hey Kels!" and kept walking. Not knowing that, that was the last time I would see or speak to her again. She was the nicest person I ever knew in high school and had a smile that would light up the room when she walked in. I am so happy and so grateful that I got to know such a wonderful and passionate person. I will never forget her. God Bless.

Her story is so amazing and what you guys are doing is just so great. I myself, just graduated from high school and I can't even imagine things like what had happened to Kelsey happening to me. This is just so scary to think about. These things can happen to anyone. I saw her story on E and it just touched my life to know that her story can live on and on and be told to thousands of people to save their lives. There are so many people behind what you guys are doing and it is just so great. My heart go out to you all <3

I just watched a story on the E channel about Kelsey and the horrific events she endured. I cried and even when the commercials came on, I continued to cry. I am about to give birth to a little girl and the thought of someone as young, ambitious, beautiful, and amazing as Kelsey Smith having her life taken so suddenly scares the hell out of me. This foundation, the volunteers behind it, and the memory of what this strong little girl stood for is truly an amazing testament to the good in this world. Thank you to the Kelsey Smith Foundation for all the hard work you do, the Kelsey Smith Act coming to fruition, and the promotion of education and safety for the young people in this country. Kelsey will forever live on in our hearts.

I heard someone talking about your story today. She said that she is extra careful everytime she goes out alone. We all miss you, but you don't know how many people your story has helped. This is a rough time for you family and friends, but I know you are watching out for all of them. I know we hadn't seen each other in years, but everytime I hear Garth Brooks or Alabama I think of you, Lindsey, and myself making up the most ridiculous dances in your basement. :) To your family, I'm thinking about you all and praying for you during this difficult time of the year.

I only know you through the memories of others but those borrowed memories of you remind me and inspire me to live how I want to live, to exist with passion, and to never hold back. The worst time of the year for me each year is June 2 to June 6. I am thankful that on June 6 you were found. Not knowing where you were or what had happened to you was terrible. My name is Linda, I am a board member for The Tommy Foundation. Your story was sent to me by my friend. I was just moved to write and tell you the sadness these stories make my heart. Your proactive stance of reaching out and talking to other kids is admirable and I am sure that Kelsey is proud of what you are doing in her name. We never understand the reason for our loss, but, in the end we see a way to reach out and touch another life and save another child. May God richly bless you and open doors for you wherever you are led. My thoughts and prayers are with you and yours. May you achieve miracles in your work. Every ending leads to a new beginning. Thank you for such a positive and powerful effort from such a tragic event for everybody connected to her. I wish you the best and keep pushing the legislation. Every tool law enforcement can quickly utilize to complete these type of cases is essential and must be fought for.

I'm a former Overland Park KS resident as Kelsey was. Kelsey will forver remain in my heart despite not knowing her. Her story made such an impact in my life. I graduated SM West 'way prior' to her and at the time of her disappearance, my eldest daughter had entered her teen years. Relating Kelsey's experience to raising our three daughters was simply frightening to think about from a parental standpoint (and still is). It's so hard to believe almost 4 years have passed....seeing her story posted at the Community College in Lee's Summit MO where I attend school now was a vivid reminder of her story. I actively use her experience as a reason to engage with my own kids to keep them as safe as possible with education to the world. I'm very sorry for the family's loss....the end of her life was senseless. Prayers and Blessings to Kelsey's family.

I saw one of many flyers with Kelsey's picture on the wall at the college that I go to and when I saw her image, a flood of memories came back to me about the coverage of her murder. I remember the story well to this day. The perpetrator's name, the Target store where she was abducted and how she was there to buy her boyfriend a gift, and the cell phone pings that helped to locate her. Stories of this kind make me feel so helpless and angry. I am sure her family feels what I feel times a thousand.
God bless Kelsey Smith and her family.

To the parents and siblings of Kelsey: I remember watching the news when your daughter came up missing, I remember watching the videotape of her on her way into Target, I remember hoping and praying she would be found alive. I remember trying to grasp the horror of losing a child.
I couldn't get it though. Because she was yours not mine. I am so very sorry. On 9/4/09 I lost my 18 year old treasured son, Chad, immediately due to a car accident.
The loss they leave in our lives in unimaginable to people who have not lost a child. I see my other children struggle so missing the brother they cherished and the family they knew.
My heart is with you and your beautiful Kelsey as I think of her and all the beautiful children gone to soon and those left behind to grieve for them for as long as we live.
I would be honored if you would read about my son. www.chadarthurholbrook.com.
