I came to UCLA in 1983 as a foreign student - Lew employed me as a research assistant when he was assistant dean. He made a difference to my life.

Only just heard of Lew's death. Hearts out to Vicki and family. Lew was a great mentor and friend in my time at HERI and UCLA. Miss his combination of humor and insistence on high standards. Congrats on a full life.

I knew Lewis since grade 5 when he and I attended North Prep in Forest Hill Canada. He lived on the next street to me and I still often drive by his house. As I recall he always was at the top of the class. His success later on was not a surprise to me
Lewis and I were in Commerce at University of Toronto graduating in 1964.I had just sent out a reunion notice when I received the sad news. It was a jolt
.
While for many years our paths never crossed , early in the 90"s I was in Los Angeles and we were able to get together. It was then I was introduced to his baseball collection !!
I willl be proposing a special toast in his memory at our reunion

Vicki, we have been away and did not hear the news. We send our deepest sympathies. We will never forget our shared baseball world...Lew was wonderful with little David. Thank you both for your support of the restaurant. Your friends, Liz and John

UCLA Basketball...They were great times and bad times for the Bruins...Both Vicki and Lew were always an ardent fan...they would support the Bruins always...Lew was an original...He had the abilty to talk about many complex issues but always tried to explain his ideas and thoughts in a way that was not intimidating...He had a great love for his family and of course the mighty Bruins. We will miss him dearly.

Although I did not know Mr. Solomon personally, I am very aware of the great work that my cousin Michael Milken and his foundation have done for education. May he rest in peace.

Heaven awaits the faithful

Professor Solmon was a member of my doctoral committee along with Dr. Bruno. He was very helpful and provided insight into my doctoral dissertation that I found very supportive in a challenging time in my life. His time on earth was too short. May God Bless Him for his help to all UCLA students.
