Tony Malinosky Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 10, 2011.
OXNARD, Calif. (AP) — The ballplayer who was the oldest living major leaguer has died at the age of 101.

Tony Malinosky was an infielder with the Brooklyn Dodgers for three months in 1937. The Los Angeles Dodgers say he died Tuesday in Oxnard, Calif.

Malinosky hit .228 in 35 games with Brooklyn before his career was cut short by a knee injury. He later served in the Army and fought in the Battle of the Bulge.

Malinosky was honored at Dodger Stadium during the 2009 season when he turned 100. The team says he remained a Dodgers fan his whole life.

My dad, George Cisar, also played with the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1937, and died last year. He was the second oldest MLB player next to Mr. Malinosky. He also served in WWII.
My dad lived with me until his death at 99. I still miss him. My daughter misses her grandpa most of all.
If Mr. Malinosky's family reads this, please contact me: [email protected]. I believe we have many memories to share.

May I offer my condolences to your entire family, and this thought of how much you mean to our Father...
Many in the Greatest Generation that ever lived perished in their service.Cutting off their linage. Let us never believe the lie that God doesn't have something important for us to do in life, when he did so much to make it possible for us to be born. Many would be children, Grand-children, and more will never know what could have been. Let us all become the best we can be, since God gave us opportunity in sparing our fathers and mothers. let us live with their memory to make them proud.

To the Malinosky Family and Friends,

Deeply sorry for the loss of such a family treasure like Mr.Malinosky. During this sad time please find comfort from the many wonderful memories he must have shared through the years.
What a remarkable life he must have had. We just buried our Aunt who was 101 years old, and boy did she give us many happy years from her colorful life.
I know he will be missed by all.

It seems the old good players are biting the dust really fast around us. Sorry for your loss but like all good men he had agreat time with the dodgers back then and knew how to play the game not for the MONEY as they play for today and are not that good of players. This man did indeed live an extraordinary and exciting life. I'm sure he will be missed by many but Luke 23:43 assures us with Jesus' words to the criminal hanging next to him, "Truly I tell You today, you will be with me in Paradise." What a great time that will be to see and talk to all of our dead loved ones.
