Alexander Teves Obituary
"Alex will be remembered as an intelligent young man with a passion for living life to the fullest," said Mary Gomez, a counseling psychology professor at the University of Denver and one of Teves' graduate advisors.
Gomez said Teves was a compassionate, positive person.
"His top priority was his relationships. His loyalty is admirable and he always put his friends first," Gomez said.
The 24-year-old Phoenix native earned a master's degree in counseling psychology in June.
He was a lovable person who made friends quickly and had a lot of them, said his grandfather, Carlo Iacovelli of Barnegat, N.J.
As a boy, Teves moved from New Jersey to Phoenix with his parents. Iacovelli and his wife wintered there and spent a lot of time with him.
"He was what you might call an ideal grandson," Iacovelli said. "He was a fun guy. He loved to eat."
Teves was planning to become a psychiatrist, his grandfather said.
"He had a lot to look forward to," Iacovelli said.
Teves was killed Friday, July 20, 2012 in the shootings at an Aurora, Colo. movie theater.

It has been 3 weeks since this horrible tragedy. You and your whole family are still on our minds and in our hearts. So Sorry for all the grief, pain and missing Alex you are and will continue to go through. A senseless act robbed me and others the honor of meeting your wonderful son, Alex, who from all accounts led a selfless life. Inspirational and honorable are words not normally used to describe the young, and yet these traits are prominent in the stories of Alex's life. I cannot imagine the indescribable pain you are feeling at the loss of your son, at the loss of your big brother. Know that Alex will not be forgotten and I pray you, and all who loved Alex, will find strenght and peace as you feel the blanket of love and prayers sent your way as friends, neighbors, co-workers and the nation grieves with you. A LETTER FROM HEAVEN:
To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say,
But first of all to let you know that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from Heaven, where I dwell with God above,

While I have never met Alex, it is obvious that he was someone special. I don't know why, but there is something about him that really touched me. I've never written on something like this before. Although I did not have the pleasure of knowing Alex, my son goes to school and wrestled with Tommy. Tommy often talked to my son about how he looked up to Alex and always wanted to be like him.
