Frank Pastore Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 19, 2012.
UPLAND, Calif. (AP) - Frank Pastore, the former major league baseball pitcher who became a popular Christian radio show host, has died. He was 55.

Southern California radio station KKLA, which aired Pastore's show, said on its website that he died Monday, nearly a month after he was critically injured in a motorcycle accident.

Pastore had been in a coma since a car collided with his motorcycle Nov. 19. The accident came hours after he pondered the risk of motorcycle riding on his daily radio show, in which he discussed the possibility of life after death.

Pastore pitched for the Cincinnati Reds from 1979 until 1985 and for the Minnesota Twins in 1986. After playing ball, he obtained a master's degree in philosophy at Biola University and became a radio host.

When Frank was with Indy he and his dad stayed at the apts where I worked. I use to chat with his dad by the pool. Frank also held the steak eating record at The Big Texan in Amarillo.

I can't believe I just learned of his death this moment. I am so saddened and so shocked that he is not on his radio show anymore. He is in the place he always preached about...my heart and prayers go out to his family that I know miss him very much. I loved listening to him everyday for years when I drove back and forth to LA. When I got laid off I wasn't in the car anymore so I did not know of his accident and passing. He was a treasure that we had for a short time. I guess that's why he was called home so soon. Treasures belong in Heaven.

Frank will be sorely missed. He was a very intelligent voice on kkla in LosAngeles,ca. He was well informed, articulate, and had a terrific impact on those who listened to him on the radio. He was also a unifier.

We desperately need more people who are informed on the issues, passionate about them, and proactive about getting them into the public square. There will be a vaccuum in the Christian arena, We desperately need more Frank Pastores. Its time to stand up for what we believe and get off our complacent bottoms and get in the game. And that will be the legacy of Frank Pastore. Thank you Frank!

To the Pastore Family,
Words cannot express how saddened I am by the loss of your loved one. I listened to Frank every evening driving to pick my kids up from school. Although, I never had the opportunity to meet him he was like my friend. My family learmed so much listening to him and I am going to truly miss him. I thank God for Frank, and I will continue to pray for your Family.

Our deepest condolances to the Pastore Family. Frank was one of my heros; not for his athletic prowless, but rather his Christian boldness. He truly was a man that was ready, willing, and able to give every man an answer for the hope that lays within him. And of course with "gentleness and respect". I did not have the priviledge of formally meeting Frank on this side of heaven, but saw him at a "Billy Grahm" cursuade @ the Pasedena Rose Bowl a few years ago. Frank was good enough to take a call from my then 13 year old daughter when questioning the wisdom of young teens membership in photobucket/ facebook? Frank Pastore fought the "good fight" and will be terribly missed by countless thousands, his extended radio family.

I met Frank 37 years ago, while playing baseball at Damien. It was a blessing to meet Frank Jr. 35 years later, when he became our family dentist. The work that Christ did in Frank's life shines like a beacon of light for all of us. Our condolences to Gina, Frank Jr., Christina and family. May the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:7)

I never met Frank, but listened to his talk show on drive back home. Such a
deep thinker and a great human being.I know he is now with The Lord who has called him home. Cried when I learned he passed. I wanted him to wake up. I will miss his laugh. May our Lord help his family through this tough time. God bless them.

Frank is one of those who stood tall among Christians that I greatly admired. Strange that someone who has never met him personally should grieve so much over his sudden departure to his new address--and that without even being able to say goodbye. I loved to listen to him on KKLA: loved his deep insight and humility. Am a really big fan of Frank. I pray that the God of all comfort would comfort his family and friends over such a huge loss to the community and the world.

found this looking for my grandmothers obituary. she too moved on to heaven on Christmas Eve. My prayers are with your family. Please pray for the family of Eileene Brown (my family) as well. Christmas Eve is a hard time, but they and the Lord are happy tonight. We know they are doing better than we are tonight, because they are there with Him on this celebration of His birth. God bless the Pastore family and wrap you in His perfect love throughout this Christmas season. In Jesus' name, amen.

When you lost a love one in death. the pain, the grief, and the feelings of helplessness can seem unbearable. at such times, we need to go to God's word for comfort. 2corintians 1:3,4. the bible help us to understand how jehovah and Jesus feel about death.Jesus, who perfectly reflected his father, knew the pain of losing someone in death.

Although he is gone far too soon, I know he will continue to encourage, and be a blessing, to many. As I learn more about his conversion to faith and his love for the Lord, my faith is renewed that many nonbelievers that I know & love can change & turn their hearts to God as Frank did. May God continue to give your family & loved ones comfort, happy hearts & the peace that surpasses all understanding during this difficult time.
