I knew Cody for a short time in Billings. He was quite a guy. He called me "Slick", maybe because I was from Chicago. He loaned me his hat so that I wouldn't look so out-of-place. He'd argue this, but it definitely looked better on him.

My department had the honor of standing watch for FF Dragoo. It was with deep reflection that we accepted the honor and reflected on his sacrifice. His selfless giving renewed our spirits to be thankful and humble providers of care to those that we serve. His example is emblazened in our spirits. It is obvious why his loss is so painful, because he was a man of great character. I pray in the days ahead, that the family will find peace that passes all understanding and will rest upon the arms of God. Thank you for sharing FF Dragoo's life with us and allowing us to give back to him and his family.

Words of comfort.

2 Cor. 1:9 In fact, we felt within ourselves that we had received the sentence of death. This was that we might have our trust, not in ourselves, but in the God who raises up the dead.

MY CHILD ON LOAN

I'll lend you for a little time
A child of Mine, He said,
For you to love the while he lives,
And mourn for when he's dead.

It may be six or seven years
Or twenty-two or three,
But will you, til I call him back,
Take care of him for Me?

He'll bring his charms to gladden you,
And should his stay be brief,
You'll have his lovely memories
As solace for your grief.

I cannot promise he will stay,
Since all from earth return,
But there are lessons taught down there
I want this child to learn.

I've looked this wide world over
In my search for teacher, true,
And from the throngs that crowd life's lanes,
I have selected you;

Now will you give him all your love,
Not think the labor vain,
Nor hate Me when I come to call
And take him back again?

I fancied that I heard them say:
Dear Lord, Thy will be done,
For all the joy Thy child shall bring,
The risk of grief we'll run.

We'll shelter him with tenderness,
We'll love him while we may,
And for the happiness we've known,
Forever grateful stay.

But should the angels call for him
Much sooner than we planned,
We'll brave the bitter grief that comes
And trust Your mighty hand.

I'm really sad to hear of this news. Cody and I lived right next to each other when we were kids. He taught me how to drive a stick shift. We'd take my dad's pickup and go out back to the gravel pit where we spun many donuts. We butchered chickens. We played chicken on our bikes up at the feedlot. We helped butcher his mom's chickens. We caught snakes while tubing down the nearby canal. I'll never forget those boyhood memories. Thanks, Cody.

My sincere graces to the family and friends of Cody. I had the privilege of working with and becoming a friend of Cody while he was in Billings, Montana. We shared many on and off the job experiences. Cody's infectious personality and good nature were some of his finer qualities. It does not surprise me to know that Cody would give of himself in the times of greatest need. My our gracious Lord receive him well and may all his family, friends and co-workers be blessed with having known his presence in their respective lives. God Bless All!
