Michael Arthur Dragoo, 61, of Mart, Texas passed away September 9, 2025. A memorial visitation will be held Saturday afternoon, September 20, 2025, from 2:00 to 4:00 at Pecan Grove Funeral Home, 3124 Robinson Drive, Waco, Texas.
Michael was born August 21, 1964, in Columbus, Ohio, to Michael Edward and Correne Lehmann Dragoo. Correne said even though Michael was born in Ohio, he was conceived in Texas. After his dad was discharged from the Air Force in 1968, the family moved from Goldsboro, North Carolina to St. Paul Road in Marlin, Texas. Growing up, Michael lived and worked on his family’s farm where they raised cows, pigs, goats, chickens and rabbits. A highlight was when Doctor Howard Lee Smith would come to the farm to pick out a rabbit for his magic show.
Michael attended Marlin ISD and graduated from High School in 1982. After graduation, he attended the University of North Texas with his best friend, John David Fischer. Michael worked in Waco, Dallas and Riesel in information technology. In 2011, Michael was able to fulfill a lifetime dream when he visited the Nelson and Pat Ayala family in the Philippines.
He was a ferocious reader and even bragged that he had read every book in the Marlin Elementary and Middle School library. Michael loved science fiction as well as fantasy like the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. He shared a love of Monty Python with his dad and would often do Python bits with his best Texan British accent. His favorite cartoons were Ren & Stimpy and Calvin and Hobbs. And most of all, he was a Trekkie loving all things Star Trek. He collected dragons, swords as well as Pepsi and Star Trek memorabilia.
Michael was preceded in death by his father and grandparents Arthur and Agnes Lehmann and Ralph and Gladys Dragoo. He is survived by his mother, sister Tania Dragoo Baker, her husband John, and their son Troy, his father’s wife, Lisa Easter Dragoo, Uncle Don Dragoo, Godparents Marion and Beverly Spriggs, cousins as well as his most loved dog, Booger.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to your favorite Falls County charity or one that you think Michael would have appreciated.
