A BRILLIANT LAWYER and he proved that if you have the right attorney justice will be served. Thanks for all one's hard work in the name of ANGELA DAVIS as well as others he has helped. To fight with INTELLIGENCE and to do it while millions are watching it on TV, back then it meant so much to AFRICAN AMERICANS to see ANGELA DAVIS go free. THANKS FOR ALL ONE'S HARD WORK.....RIP

I am deeply saddened to have just learned about the leaving of my former attorney and wise friend Leo Branton Jr. He defended me. We were unsuccessful, yet he encouraged me, and by his warmth, conveyed that the judgment of others is neither final nor inspirational. Motivation comes from within. I would later go on to obtain additional law diplomas from abroad, and returned sobered, and more reflective to the practice of law. He was a giant in the legal profession, and a guiding star to all who dare to lift their sights beyond the judgment of man. True warrior!

My dear friend and mentor Leo Branton was larger than life until the moment he died. There is now a vacuum in the Universe. I will always miss his humor, his guidance, his intellect and his countenance. Hats off to William Yardley at the New York Times for a soulful obituary for an American hero.
